Re: Club4310 Info-mation

Mike, make sure you keep her off of the back acreage around her due date. The doctors always told me and the wife that to speed up or start labor, go for a ride on a bumpy road. Can you imagine your child being born in a field? Or on "the" tractor. Actually, the pallet forks due look like the table in the doctors office. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Re: Club4310 Info-mation

we use a midwife at home; who probably wouldn't even notice the tractor, what with all the weird places she's been. /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

Cool. I bet she has seen it, done it, lived it. How much longer.

Shhh...Don't tell Mrs. HH about Mrs. RR. I'm trying to maximize my time in the seat before I have to share with others. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

My wife is allergic to grass. So guess who gets all the seat time. /forums/images/graemlins/ooo.gif

I know it's a joke but I thought that you'd want to know who is out here doing 4310 stuff.

As for the power reverse, I guess with the older 4300 and 4400 it was necessary to use the clutch when changing direction but the 4310 does not require that. Just move the lever on the left side of the steering wheel and you are going the other way. There is a neutral position between forward and reverse so you can move the lever to neutral and shift gears without using the clutch, if you wish. I personally don't find it a big strain to step on the clutch to shift. Where I do find the neutral position handy is if I have to get off the tractor for a second I just put the reverser in neutral and then the gearshift in neutral. If you don't put the gearshift in neutral, the engine will shut off as soon as you get off the seat. Anyhow, when I get back on I just put it back in whatever gear I want and flip the reverser in the direction that I want to go. Never have to touch the clutch during that whole procedure. I'm sure that I would like the hydro if I tried it but this works well for me and I saved $1200.00 . And.....no loss of horsepower from the hydro (and no wierd hydro noises).

I've noticed that just about everyone on here buys the hydro so I'm sure there are plenty of advantages but I'm suprised that there aren't a few more people like me who needed to save a few bucks. Hey, it's a little more work than just pushing one pedal or the other but it's a big improvement over the good old days.

Nobody else here has any interest in the tractor so I don't have to worry about another operator, BUT I do occasionally signal for a right turn when trying to go to reverse in the pickup.

You can count me in. My 4310 just continues to impress me and do things that I had no idea that I would be able to do. But last night I did push her to her limits, I had cut some large willow trees at the water edge on the dam which is steep enough that I won't drive sideways on it but will go straight down. I had already pulled several trunks up but I got the 4n1 on one trunk that is 18+"x25 to 30' with multiple branches hanging up with other trees in the water, I got about half way up when I lost all traction and I had to let go. But in all defense it was on 8 to 10" wet grass and I am sure when it dries I will be able to pull it on up the dam.
I don't have any pictures of last night but I will try to attach some from when it was delivered and when I was feeding the 4n1 some stumps.

47 vs. 48

JMACS picture gives a good contrast for comparing the 48 and 47

Hey Man, Did you have any idea that your thread would go this far? It sure helps me feel like I made a good choice while I wait for delivery on my 4310 for the next couple of weeks. No firm ship date from my dealer yet. My only concern now is that if delivery goes past July 7th I may miss out on the current financing offered through JD. Seems I am in a "sub club" of one going for the sync shift. If I had gone hydro I would have had to move up to the 4410 as the hp on the 4310 is minimal for the work I do. I think "bigblock" with the reverser trans is the only other person without hydro that has chimed in. I've been reading up on correct ballasting on the 4310 with an FEL and can't seem to find the info on the JD web site. I'm trying to figure if I'll need more than fluid in the R1s and a 450 pound grading blade or bush hog for correct balance. If I need the extra weight I will probably go with the EZ weight system and add an extra 200-300 pounds on the rear wheels. Don't want to get too rear heavy. Learned the hard way about that trying to run an 1000 pound disc up a steep hill with an IH Farmall 140. Had to steer with the brakes. Front wheels were four inches off the ground at the steepest part of the hill. The things I did when I was young, poor, and desperate to get a job done with the equipment available. I nicknamed that offset cultivating tractor "the widow maker" It was dangerous as hell on my mountain terrain. Maybe I should have named the operator, (me), "the complete tractor moron". Sorry, I digress into story telling.

While you wait, check out the owners manual; it kept me from going bonkers. /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif It has ballast info... 4310 Manual

Count me in tool! I mean too. Where do we go from here? How bout an aftermarket turbo setup? With an adjustable waste gate....Hummm...what would about 20lbs of boost do?
Maybe 45hp???

Count me in 4310 with a 420 72" woods mower. well you can check my profile. I still wish I had the A or B to give the kids a ride on. I can't get the thing out for Daddy time without the kids wanting their time. The 420 has been great. I am considering foamed tires (turf) with rear hydraulics for tilt on the 3 pt. Great tractor I think my 850 had more hp for mowing, but I needed the 4wd with a loader.
