Hello,

Looking at a 62h Woodmaxx flail mower. I’d like to be able to drive forwards and backwards up some steep slopes with the flail. I have a good feel of when the tractor feels tippy, I’m more concerned with engine oiling.

Has anyone found a spec in the manual about how steep a slope you can go up and down before starving the oil pump? Is the pickup located in the rear of the pan (if so, going up and down with the nose higher would be safer)?

Thanks!

I have yet to find an actual spec for slope operation based on the oil pump, however the pump does seem to be towards the rear.

I'll keep browsing through my shop manual until the meat on the grill is done; if I find anything else I will let you know.

Running out of engine oil or THF on steep hills would not be on the top of my mind when the 'pucker' factor happens...............

Steep hills pose many more relevant concerns both up/down and sideways than oil circulating in the engine..........but since you asked....... it has been discussed before here: Oil Starvation?

How steep is too steep, you ask? How Steep?

12 things to ponder before taking that hill in the forward direction: Slippery Pucker

Keep and extra pair of shorts and some wipes in the tractor tool box!

I've been going up and down hills on my property steep enough to flip the tractor over backwards without weight in the front bucket for over 30 yrs. now. 6,000 hrs on first tractor , 3,000 and 1,000 on the 2610 I now have the oil pickups are right in the bottom of the oil pan.
