In the past there was discussions regarding the rear PTO,I was left with the impression that.... The CK had 540rpm, and 1000 rpm was an option, to my surprise I pull the lever to a 1000 and it work's /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif did I miss something /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif....cag

my ck 30 hst came with it. I know the mid pto is optional. Not sure if I will ever use the 1000rpm pto /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

cag, I believe this was discussed some time ago and one of the dealers chimed on the subject. If I remeber, all or most of the CK30's (including mine), have this option, but there is a stop that will prevent engaging on some tractors. This is how my tractor is set up. Apparently there are some european implements designed for 1000 rpm's. I'm sure a dealer will jump in here and clarify.

My CK30 HST setup is exactly as HODAK described it. There is a stop which can be removed with a single screw or bolt (after gaining access to the lower part of the fender). It prevents the lever from going to the rear and engaging the 1000 RPM position. Yours my have been delivered with the stop removed. Since I don't have any attachments which could require that speed and diesels run better at higher RPM's I am not going to remove it.

I like to run my RFM and Rear snowblower at 1000 rpms at a slower engine speed so it's quieter with the RFM and slower in reverse with the Snow blower.

Bob when running the snow blower at slower engine speed, at 1000 rpm did you ever encounter the engine bogging down...cag

When mowing, if I get in particularly tall grass, the exhaust will puff some black. But, I haven't run into snow that has done it yet. I think I've done about 18" of new snow max so far. It seems like slowing down the speed of the tractor, helps out in terms of the volume of snow that gets shoved in. My reverse gear is a little fast for my liking. I think if the snow was very heavy and deep it would start to bog down. But, I suspect this would happen at 540 at full speed also.

I try to keep an eye on it so I don't bog it down too bad.

Bob having hst, I'll have in my view better speed control by easing up on the hst peddle, I'm looking forward to the experience with both 540 and 1000, and like you, I'll keep an eye on and ease up if the engine bog's down, thank's for the input...cag

What engine RPM do you need to run to get an equivalent PTO RPM. I imagine you would have to be pretty careful about over revving your implements.

I'm going to do this from memory so take it with a grain of salt. I think the 540 speed is about 2650 rpms. When running the 1000 pto, I run the engine at about 1300 rpms. It seems to work fine and seldom bogs down. I would think if I forgot and ran the 1000 pto at much more than 1500 rpms I would start to overspeed and overheat the gear box or even worse, break the rotating parts.
