Had a need today to shift into low range. The lever would not go into low range and the 2wd-4wd selector would move as well. Have tried all recommended methods to engage and none have worked. Have inspected all linkage points for rust binding and lubed the heck out of it. Still no luck. Any suggestions? Thanks ... John

Hi John, welcome to TBN. I had a ck25 hst that used to do that sometimes. I used to throttle back to idle, touch the hst rocker forward slightly as you push the range selector and it usually worked. Hope that helps.

Also make sure you are on flat ground.

My CK20 will do that on occassion. Rmorey's method works, you may have to clutch a few times while you're at it.

Stop. Clutch in. Press HST lever full forwards and back. This will relieve tension in the driveline. May also need to let the tractor roll a foot or two for the 4wd to release if there is tension in the differential.

Is the clutch working? Does everything stop moving if you step on the clutch with HST pedal pushed down to move? If not, pedal may be working but clutch disc stuck to the pressure plate or flywheel.

Once in awhile mine will bind up bad if I try to shift at wrong time on a hill. Trying to work 3 controls (clutch, brake, & HST) with 2 feet is challenging so I use the loader. Roll bucket over and push down to take load off the front axle, the holding in the clutch rock bucket back and forth the rock the tractor and take pressure off the shift fork.

Well ... have tried all recommended methods of moving the range selector with no success. Finally removed the seat to get a better look at the linkages and all are operating freely. The range selector handle bracket, from what I can determine, merely pivots on the range shifter shaft? From what I can determine, based on my limited tractor troubleshooting skills, it connects by linkage to two shift levers? After disconnecting the linkages to them, the shift levers both move freely and easily click into position. It almost seems that the range shift lever does not have enough movement to engage through the linkages. Is there somewhere where adjustments can be made? Thanks ... John

Mine is doing the same thing. Did you ever get it repaired? If so, how?

Thanks
