My CK27 has 80 hours and has run flawlessly for the year and a half I've had it. I just noticed 2 weird electrical things.

1) headlight switch. In the off position the lights are on. Key or no key. In position 1 they are off and in position 2 they are on.
2) glow plug light does not go out after 8 second. It will stay on for 60 seconds if I leave it.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Thanks

glow plug would be your timer relay. light problem is weird.

Ya the headlight thing is a mystery. I put the tractor away and the next morning it wouldn't start. I charged the battery and as it charged the headlights went on. It was clear at that point, the headlights being on was what caused the battery to die. I immediately checked the switch and it was in the off position. I turned it to position 1 and the lights went off. Position 2, they went back on. After charging I went to start and noticed the glow plug light wouldn't turn off. The timing clearly indicates the 2 problems are related.

Ghost in the machine. Do you have a Service manual? I have one but its for the DK series.

Chris my first thought is water/corrosion in a connector somewhere. Any chance of that? A service manual is a must for this.

Yes I have a service manual. Not that I can understand it. I will probably contact my dealer since its still under warrenty.

The tractor is always stored in a heated garage. I did wash it a couple weeks ago. Any source of water would have had to come from washing it. Is that enough to corrode something?

I have the manual opened on electrical system. I think I got the wrong manual. It's written in Chinese or something. Lol

Only thing I can think of is maybe water accidently got sprayed on one of the connectors, and started corrosion or something, but I could be way off base here too. I wonder how close the electrical schematic is to my DK. I take it you are not used to reading electrical schematics.?

Is this what you need James?

On the DK the combination switch (headlight/tailight and horn) gets its battery feed from a terminal on the ignition switch. So it the combination switch has power when the (ignition or starter switch) is turned to OFF.. well that aint right. so there is a corrosion bridge or something in the ignition/starter switch or something... any chance of a rat? chewed wires and made some new connections. I would want to measure for voltage on B1 terminal of the Combination switch, which should not be there if the ignition/starter switch is turned off. This wire is 1/2 mm in size and yellow in color. But I am assuming all of this is similar to the DK and I don't know that it is.

Oh, man I strained to read yours,.. but I saw enough to see that they are not the same.. Where does Lead marked B+ to to that comes up out of the combination switch B1 terminal? on the DK it goes to the key switch, M terminal, but it doesnt seem to on yours.

Thanks james. We don't have rats here but we do have mice. I have traps set in the shop but have never caught one. Nor have I ever seen poop. I'm tracing the chain of events in my mind and thinking its almost certainly water from washing. I did give it a full wash before this happened. I'm thinking there is moisture in a connector somewhere. I have blown some out with compressed air and moisture did come out. Problem persists. I'm sure there is dozens if connectors I can't see.

Check to see if there is a visitor chewing on your wiring, like a mouse, or similar.

It is quite a bit different than the DK.. I would bet on the water angle too. Might be easiest to let the dealer fix it. Did you use a pressure washer? They can put water in a lot of places you did not intend.

I am thinking the the B+ goes directly to the battery. now that feeds both the low beam and the high beam relays. Relay could possibly be stuck. or some stray voltage in a connector is powering the coil to energize it. Would have to have good readable schematic layed out and a voltmeter to hunt this one down..If I was in your garage tonite with my tools I would help you fix it, but I am a little far.

I didn't use a pressure washer but I did hose it down real good :-(

Tomorrow I will spend some time checking connectors. Just wish I know what specific areas to target. I can't understand those schematics. Lol

Ignition switch issues on these rigs came to mind concerning the lights part of your issue and as others say check for rodents.
