If this is REAL vs just another rumor........then it means that Daimler is looking to split off the Chrysler business unit altogether and end the Joint Venture / ownership arrangement. Dodge brand is part of Chrysler so it would most likely go to new owners as part of the deal.

Nope, not a rumor. I have read alot of articles that say GM is thinking of buying them.

You are not the only one. Apparently there is good money to be made in going broke. Check out the executive salaries and bonuses if in doubt.

A GM/Chrysler union would be a marriage that would make a Shotgun Willie's Las Vegas Drive-Thru wedding look positively classy. In the end, the biggest benefactor might be Ford.

Is that right? I thought it was the other way around.

It gets about 1MPG but it will run on almost any fuel. I'm thinking I can build a biodiesel processor and I'll be good to go! Don't need not stink'n diesel engine when you have a turbine! :D

Ooops. Just saw the loan terms! I'll wait until the interest rate gets closer to zero or at least more cash back! I can wait, the incentives will return!

Later,
Dan

From CNN Money.com... (11/17/2004)
Kmart is buying Sears, Roebuck & Co. for $11 billion in a deal that will marry two of the nation's oldest retailers that had trouble keeping up with the changes in American culture around them.

It's all a ploy to get press. Notice since the "all options are being explored" statement was made on 2/14 (when they announced DCX is swimming in the red), their stock has gone up. Believe me, being a moderator on the biggest Mopar board on the web, it's all been speculated to death, & in the last 9 days there have been a MINIMUM of 20 posts announcing Chrysler's imminent sale to GM (as if  ).

Mercedes Benz wanted & bought Chrysler 9 years ago for 2 reasons:

1- To get a piece of the VERY lucrative (at the time) light truck sales.

2- To get their hands on Chrysler's $5 billion in cash reserves.

The "merger of equals" (as it was advertised/foisted on the public) was a sham! Within 2 years of the take-over, 90% of (what was formerly) Chrysler's upper management came directly from desks in Stuttgart.

Where will all these RUMORS lead? I have no idea, my crystal ball is broken. Personally, one of two things are going to happen:

1- (the former) Chrysler Corp will be cut up & sold to various buyers (mostly Asian/Oriental).

2- It's a marketing ploy to bolster things on Wall Street (more short-term gain at the expense of long-term stability/reinvestment.
