Well I think I have decided on the Wallenstein. Will start pricing them out tomorrow. The DR seems a little cheapie. Only one knife.

The DR is not the appropriate comparison for the Wallenstein. Price the BearCat vs the Wallenstein.

Todd, Like you, time for me is precious My jimna didn't require but 1.5 hours to set up, and a lot of that was greasing it. I have been more than happy with mine and I'm still surpised at the size chips it makes. It choppes fairly fine. One of the best things I've bought. Just FYI

I've thought alot about the Jinma and have planned to get one, but for the life of me can not find a dealer here in Florida, and the shipping to bring one in from Texas or N.C. kills the affordability. Am going to look at Bearcats and Wallensteins (sp?) and see what I can find. Still hoping I might find a Jinma locally, I've sent some emails off to Florida Jinma tractor dealers hoping one may also sell the chippers.

My Dealer told me the DR and the Bearcat chippers are junk, one of his mechanics confirmed that and not at the same time (in two diff. conversations, at two Diff. times at the dealership). As far as Jinma, it's Chinese. I've had a Patu and used a friends Wallenstein, both very good quality.

A little birdy told me not once but twice that your dealer was FOS. A little squirrel confirmed it so it must be true.

The smaller "junk" Bearcat PTO unit weighs 450 lbs and has a 125lb rotor. The equivalent Wallenstein weighs less and has a smaller rotor for about the same price. Don't have exact specs on a similar size Patu (it is a bit heavier) but it costs double what the "junk" Bearcat does. And the Patu is a foreign make (not sure why that is an issue for you). The DR is a light weight machine but is well enough built that the company will take it back for a full refund, including shipping in six months if you don't like it.

My buddy in New Mexico has one of those Jinma chippers. I saw it work and he put everything into it with no problems. I was thinking of getting one for myself. I think Tommy at Affordable Tractor Sales has them for about $1,800 bucks or less? Larry is very happy with his.

Went over to Pinnacle in Walpole NH and bought the BX42 yesterday, $2495. Will give 'er a spin sometime today. Nice guys to deal with over there. I'm trying to avoid Chinese goods even if it costs a little more.

Congrats on the purchase. I think you will be happy with both the dealership, and the chipper! There isn't much info here on the BX42, so give us an update once you start using it. I'm pretty sure that's what I'm buying as soon as I figure out what tractor to put it on!

Todd, if you decide to go with Jinma try to make sure it is the original Jinma wood chipper.

Tommy and I both sell, service and support them. I have had good service out of the ones I have sold.

Ronald,

Can you give me a ballpark of what shipping is from you to Central Florida?
Or send me a PM and we can discuss offline.

IslandTractor, you don't have to be a jerk, Just repeating what I was told. I don't have a problem with Foreign equipment just foreign junk. Obviously you are Not very experienced in the Tractor world or you would know that 99% of the equipment that comes from China IS junk.

Repeating half truths or complete falsehoods is no particular benefit to the forum. Low brow dealers often try to trash competing equipment. If you don't have anything but rumor to contribute, don't.

If 99% of stuff that comes from China is junk that is news to folks who routinely purchase it at Costco, Walmart and a thousand other stores. The Chinese equipment is rarely the highest tech or very highest quality but is very often the highest value. Find me another self feeding chipper capable of 6 inch logs for the price of the Chinese version. Lots of happy chipper owners on this site who own that "junk".

I believe you also trashed Bearcat which is a USA built chipper. Why is that "junk"?

The reason I shared the information on Bearcat and DR That my Dealer gave me, Is because he Sells these two brands. I was there not for myself on these two occasions but for an elderly couple looking for small but quality chipper and the Dealer knew that and Where I've been A good customer for many yrs. HE didn't want to steer me wrong:p

He sell them but thinks they are junk...right. And you trust his opinion. Seems to me he is the kind of dealer that will say anything to anyone to sell anything. I'm not interested in those sorts of opinions and they are certainly motiviated by the need to sell rather than the truth. Search on Bearcat and DR chippers here on TBN and see how many owners think they are "junk".:)

It appears It wouldn't make any difference to you what I or my dealer said, You have your opinion. if you have a DR, Bearcat or a Chinese piece of Equipment and like it you deserve it. I happen to know and have had thousands of hours experience with numerous pieces of equipment and know when I'm talking with someone with experience, YOU don't and my Dealer and his service manager DO.

Simple statements like Bearcat and DR are "junk" or that "99%" of Chinese stuff is "junk" make me very wary of accepting anything that you or your dealer have to offer. I'd be interested in your personal experience but not some second hand sales oriented drivel from a dealer who himself seems willing to sell the "junk" to whomever he can bamboozle. Experience and data are useful. Biased and poorly informed opinions are not.

And yes, I do own a Bearcat. Works just fine thank you.

I think the opposing opinions have been adequately reviewed. Continuing this argument boots us nothing except for you two getting more and more pissed at each other. Unless we can get side-by-side comparison type reviews that whole issue of quality difference is moot anyway.

I don't buy Chinese when I can avoid it for political/philosophical reasons rather than quality reasons. I'm sure you can get a great value buying cheap goods from a communist country that exploits its laborers. I just won't do it.

I too take issue with Bearcat being substandard ( hate the term junk ). Mine weighs 900#, has a 275# flywheel, and is built like a tank. It grinds up 6" hardwood like a walk in the park. Don't expect it to rust out soon with the heavy guage material it is constructed out of. You get what you pay for. This should last a lifetime. It is made in Fargo ND......... ( USA ) Not the republic of China ! Just my humble opinion.

An Joe, how appropriate is it that a wood chipper is made in Fargo? Did anyone recognize the brand at the end of the movie?
