As we all know, most JD's have no real toolbox or carrier, so I have made my own. I have another version that I use in the summer, it's a cut down Craftsman GTO (great tool organizer) plastic box. I cannot use it in winter, because I have to move the drawbar on the back forward so the rear blade doesn't hit the clevis when I swivel it 180 degrees.

The carrier, as you can clearly see, is a gasoline can. The bottom is very thick plastic, and I drilled two holts in the bottom. The front hole has a carriage bolt that fastens on a "U" shaped metal bracket that fits over the drawbar front. The back hole has a half inch carriage bolt that goes through the large hole in the drawbar, and is secured with a wing nut. The carrier holds both a long heavy duty tow strap and 25 foot chain, best of all, the materials were almost free, the can dated back to 1988 !!

I assume the gas can was otherwise unusable for some reason. Those older cans without the government imposed self venting are hard to come by. I won't let go of the ones I have!

Yes, had vent spout broken off and large fill spout was leaking (once yellow nozzle was installed) so it wasn't usable to begin with.

OK then. Good handy use for a broken can.

JDgreen227 looks like you might want to check your hydraulic oil level

Yes, I noticed that when I posted the pics, the tractor is on a slope facing downhill and the hydro oil is so clean it is very hard to see even when the correct level is shown. I do check the sight glass every time I start it up. But THANK YOU for bringing it to my attention !!!

Ditto, here! Those new, cans with the lever that locks closed totally blow! Leak, leak and are a royal pain to keep open (d@mn little locking lever)!
