Does the price of new tractors go down much in the winter? How about used tactors?

The price stays pretty much the same year round. You may be able too cut yourself a better deal in the winter because of sales being somewhat slow.

Dealers might offer specials here and there, pvt sale on second hand 2wd if one waits good deal out there.

I started my looking for used tractors, mainly at Barlows, Messicks, local dealers, and craigslist in January. Not much turned up in Jan and early Feb, for CUTs. Towards the end of Feb, early March they started showing up at what I considered good prices (lightly used BX24 for $14K, my ride with all but BH for $11.5, '07 CK20 w/ 200 hrs for $8?K) then about April prices started rising.

I say if you are going to go used either stick with Barlow's (or similar) or make SURE you know what you are buying and get a good hands on.

I realize now I should have just gone with Barlow's, probably spent $1,000 more but virtually no hassle.

I probably will with my next one.

Just curious, who did you buy from?

I bought from a private party off craigslist.
The only minor hassle (so far) was he went in the hospital and it took a couple of weeks to get the trailer titled

Keep in mind the ecomony seems to be recovering and a lot of dealers are hurting now and may strike a deal. My dealer said sales are "flat". Meaning not dead but not great either. Although if economy is on recovery tractors may not see it until next summer.

Also keep in ming that the Kubota 0% financing is doesn't usually run over winter.

Some dealers may not order much either and you may not have much to pick from.

Since it's the end of the season you might do pretty good right now with a combination of selection, financing and economy.

And shop around !!

Go on December 24, a half hour before they close and pray for a snow storm. I get the best deals in real bad weather and holidays.
