Cheap Lawn Striping Attachment

Hi Gene,
Can I play the dummy on this thread??? Will someone please explain to me why you need a stripping attachment, and what exactly does it do? Mark the lawn for a certain width? When I cut around the house with my Wheel Horse with the 42" deck, you can kind of see a stripe, does this attachment make it more pronounced ? And make the lawn have a better appearance?

It makes the stripes very pronounced. You can see similar striping methods at some major league ballparks.
It is purely personal preference.

There are actually people who buy the Simplicity lawn mowers just for the striping effect from their deck rollers.
I kinda like to mow my lawn and not leave any sign that I've been there, but for the trimmed and even stand of grass. The less the better. But I'm wierd, I'll admit. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
Some strip their lawn by using a drop fertilizer spreader /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif Makes for some definite stripes.

That is an interesting concept...striping before cutting...I will have to read the thread again to make sure I did not miss something, like striping AFTER cutting... /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

I just wonder if it would not be better to have the striping rollers behind the tractor. I would think it might be a pain to some degree, but one could hook a striping roller set up to his 3PH, and raise the mower deck when changing direction, maybe...

Scott do you use a RFM, or a MMM and do you mow then stripe? An ideal solution naturally would be to stripe while mowing.

Nice project and it looks heavy duty.

I should have taken a wide angle shot. The roller is on the back end. It is a zero turn mower, not a tractor. /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif
So as I mow it follows the mower from behind.

Mike, I use a MMM and stripe while I mow. It works really well and I think my yard is getting smoother, LOL.
