If it really happened, they would surely be diving or dragging a powerful magnet in the area to reclaim them.

I'm betting there's not anyone on this forum that didn't lose all of their guns in the same manner.

I think the Mossberg Plinksters are made in Brazil. I don't know about the Rough Riders - I haven't looked. Some of my old single action 22s were made in West Germany (when it was a country, not a direction).

I've got a lot of cheap guns, and I don't think country of origin is necessarily an indicator of quality (much like with tractors). Some of my smoothest rifles are old milsurps from Germany and Czechoslovakia (Mausers). Their actions are just like butter, even after being in a war or two.

I've also got a few extremely high quality American made firearms - my Hi-Points!

Good luck and take care.

I used to have one of those little .2LR single shot rifles. Got it to teach my son and daughter how to shoot. Became instantly null and void the first time each of them shot the Ruger 10-22! Sold it for what I paid for it to a friend of mine.

I just bought a Ruger American rifle in 7mm-08. It's the equivalent to the Remington Model 7 Youth model, I bought my son his when he was one year old. That 7mm-08 kills deer like the hammer of god.

Still waiting on the scope for the American, so I don't know how it shoots yet.

I still have a Springfield .22 single shot bolt action. That little rifle has accounted for hundreds of varmints over the years. I used the tractor to dig a 60' ditch and would just toss carcasses into the ditch and cover them up. Starting from one end, I almost filled that ditch with nothing but that little .22 single shot.

My father wouldn't let me shoot a repeater until I was 18 years old. I whined and griped, but he just said, "You don't need a better rifle, you need to be a better hunter." His great grandparents came across the plains with nothing but a flintlock. My first 12 gauge was a Winchester 37a box lock, and I took many daily limits with that shotgun. A hunting buddy once commented that if an elephant had feathers, I could bring it down with that shotgun. My next hunting rifle purchase will probably be a Ruger #1. That's a really nice rifle.

Why would you say that? All of my guns are in the gun safe where they belong. My 870 did go down with the boat once, but I fished it out, spritzed it with WD-40, and went right back to hunting. You could never tell it was under water.

I bought a 7m-08 years ago, tack driver for sure, no recoil to speak of & varmint's didn't know what hit them.
Took two yotes down with one shot awhile back, very pleased.

"Lost all my guns in a boat accident" is a joke or humor. It means the author has no guns that the Gov't can come and take away.

Just in case you didn't know.

Good to know, we can shoot coyotes here 365 days per year; let's hope I can give my RA a workout!

BTW: which 7mm-08?

Thanks,

Nosler 140g Ballistic Tip is a good all-around pill for non-magnum 7mms and I reload or shoot them factory-loaded in .7mm08, 7mmx57, and .280 Rem. BC is close enough to .500 and SD close enough to .250 for me, and proven to 400 yds on my last 'Yummalope'. They're cheap and accurate, but ... wait for a clear broadside shot on deer vs quartering in/away if up close (<50 yd), as the potential for meat damage could make one think they were a bit over-gunned. (BTDT)

btw, I have more rifles (lots of 'old-mils') than deer I expect to shoot, and I like the idea of taking a freezer-load with each if possible. For the record, my choice of arm to hunt with often begins like a web search with "lowest price first". If I could find/mod-to a 5rd mag for it I'd take the SMLE No 4 Mk 1 to deer camp. (cost <$100) I'm never out to win the buck pole pool, always proud to prove a 'cheap' gun that others thought wouldn't do the job.
