Has anyone noticed an increase - high (peak) download speeds in the last week or so.

Tried running some download tests on (testmy.net)

the graphs are consistently giving spikes to well over 100mbs download- even though the average worked out to ~30mbs and speed had a 100-187% middle variance.

Almost like a (burst) transmission of part of the data.

Also thought the mobleys were limited to below those speeds

Maybe ATT is cranking up the 4GLTE speeds??
I thought testmy.net gave results in Mbps? 100mBs = 800Mbps

I have never heard of a download speed limit on the Mobley.

Here is my fastest, in the truck, line of sight to the tower with the highest signal strength that I have seen, -80 dBm:

This is my fastest at home, Mobley in a window, signal strength was -116 dBm:

This is one of the slowest with the Mobley in the same location and the signal level up to -103 dBm:

Yes it is available, you need to call the special number listed in the linked article.

Here is proof that it was available today: $20 unlimited plan...

If you read any of the many threads on any forum about the Mobley, you would know not to believe what the AT&T CSRs tell you.

I went through that when I got my Mobley.

Ask to speak to a supervisor, or say goodbye and call back.

Even when the original plan was on the AT&T Website in 2017, some CSRs didn't know about it and couldn't find it in their computer.

Sure way to sign up is to go to a 'company store' (not anagent or kiosk) and let the CSR go into the back room for a few to find out what's up. From "I don't know" to "Here you Go" if you're patient and stick to your request.

I did read the article in its entirety. I'm just saying that this is an action that likely signals that AT&T will put an end to the 'typical' use of the Mobley. Whether that happens immediately with this update or is just coming soon I don't know. But it won't last forever. I predict in less than a year the Mobley will no longer be what it is today.

I suspect 2 yrs after they stopped selling the mobley plan, they will discontinue the plan. This will be coming up soon. They gave you the mobley with a 2 yr plan, so they can shut you off. If you bought the mobley, you are month to month with no guarantee.

Their new harmon spark pretty much enforces that it be used in a car, when the car is running. There are odb simulators to fake it, but they cost over $200. Some people are programming arduinos to fake it. But you still have the timeout issue, they got rid of the ability to keep it on forever. It also uses virtual sim, so no physical sim to move to other hardware.
It is offered at $20 a month, thru at&t connected car.

Who knows? They could as easily just keep it around for eons as drop it soon. Only time will tell.

Good thing there are now various other options that do the same thing and some aren't super expensive either. In fact, in another thread there is talk of another current AT&T plan for $30/mo unlimited. I also suspect that as 5G rolls out in coming years it will make 4G plans like these more ubiquitous and affordable.
