Oil & Fuel changing fuel filter element on 1610d

yes, i concur! I broke my fuel bowl yesterday and had to replace; incident is fresh on my mind, the hole goes up, connected to a fitting coming from the fuel feed (at least on mine). good luck BobC

The fuel system is closed. It has to be closed and free of air. If even a tiny bit of air gets sucked into the fuel lines the engine will loose power and die. If there is air in the lines to start with the engine will most likely not run at all.

what I was talking about was, my fuel line had collapsed on the inside allowing very little fuel to the pump. My tractor would hardly run. I replaced the line . Now tractor runs fine

while we are on this subject, I have similar filter on my YM2500, however, prev owner lost the spring in bottom of bowl. where can I get just the spring? thx to all

TMAR04, John Deere sells the spring. 0.24 cents each. Have to purchase 8 though. I have seven left over!!

It would cost more to ship them than they are worth.

Hey Rock, on one of my tractors i lost the spring, it's still running fine and the fuel filter is still solidly engaged. If you go and buy the springs, let me know, I'll share the cost of them if you'll send me a couple. Thanks and good luck
