changing filter on hydraulics

My friend just tried to change the filter on my used 1430 i just bought and could not get oil out drain tube. Aft er trying several fixes and calling terry, who said to presureize the tank.did not work. Drain tube was plugged. Figures filter was not changed as required. Flattopp9

This could be a serious problem, but don't panic yet. Some of your description doesn't add up. This may just be a communication problem, not a real mechanical prblem.

I don't know what you mean by "drain tube". The hydraulic filter on my 425 doesn't have a drain. It's just a spin-on filter.

Do you mean the purge fitting on the tram pump? That's where you connect a hose to purge air bubbles after replacing the filter. PT has used a variety of pumps. The purge fittings are in different places on different pumps. You may just be connected to the wrong port.

If everything was working before the filter change, it's unlikely that anything is terminally plugged. Let the PT sit while we figure out what's going on.

While the filter on your machine is on the feed side, I would still cut the used filter apart to see what is inside. I do this as force of habit. Never found anything but dirty oil (Actually not completely true, I did find some ground up plastic from a hose that had gone bad).
