Chains instead of a top link for bush hog?

Agreed. Even mentioned SEVERAL times that there are SEVERAL other ways to accomplish the same thing.

IF someone was asking about how to prep a seedbed for a deer plot.....I could suggest a plow and a disc.........or a roto-tiller. But if someone were to insist they are the same thing....I would explain the difference and that they are not the same thing even though the end result is the same....a prepped seed bed. And I'd expect it to end at that. What I would not expect would be for someone to get offended that they were corrected and want to draw and argument out over 2 pages.

You really want to keep this going don't you? You just need to get that ego fed don't you?

Bring it on then. What lie did I said?

I apologize to the OP for what happened. Unfortunately some people just can't control their ego and just complete destroy good threads like this one...

I won't admit however that a randomas$ internet hero just calls me a liar for absolutely no reason other that his ridiculous high ego.

I never called anyone a liar. I simply pointed out exactly where/how you implied that your cutter had a chain for a toplink when it doesnt.

Because when anyone else asks or searches for this thread for insight as to using a short length of chain for a toplink, I dont want them to get the wrong idea and start taking apart their cutter. As I have said NUMEROUS times they DO accomplish the same thing. But to modify a cutter with chains like yours is, takes a little more work. Because you must make SURE the a-frame can pivot.

There is no ego and no trying to be an "internet hero". I am simply trying to provide FACTUAL information so people considering modification or a chain top link can make an informed decision. Yet you took it personal and now try to attack me personally with comments like

As usual in your posts, you just come out of nowhere like someone who just woke up on the wrong side of bed...
but your need to feel superior above everyone else just messed up your brain and you then obviously didn't understand what was going on

So, who's ego got bruised and they got all offended?

With your first comment "as usual in your posts....." its clear to me that you dont actually read many of my posts. I am here to try to help people if I can.

I have described the different ways one can accomplish what we are all talking about. I have showed pictures. I have explained why a chain for the toplink is a little easier to do than modifying a cutter. And whats different about the various ways.

What have you done other than attack me personally with insults.

AMEN herringchoker. There is no excuse for getting all bent out of shape, going into tirades and calling anyone else "incompetent" in these forums. NO EXCUSE. There is only one guy badly out of line, we all know it , and he knows it if he reads back over all the posts in the last few days. If he does NOT know it (and if I were in his shoes) I'd ask a neutral party to read them over and tell me straight up.

By the way, this forum does have behavior reviewers and if this gets any worse they will soon be here...

Again, did I said anything about modifying a mower? Did imply anything at all!? I just showed a couple pictures of something different. EVERYONE else but you took that post as simple demonstration as things can be different that what most people is used to. But you decided to take it further and make an huge deal out of something so simple.

You were the one that got all butt hurt just because people started showing different alternatives that you refused accept because is not a chain replacing the top link. Which everyone had figured that out already.

Never said you did modify your cutter.

Oh, and you think I got butthurt because "people started showing different alternatives that I refused to accept"

Maybe you missed the part where there were ONLY 2 people post pictures of alternatives since thins argument started and I WAS ONE OF THEM.

Perhaps go back and read post 132 again. Where I AGREED WITH YOU. And then went into great detail about different ways to accomplish tail-wheel float. And posted pictures.

To which you immediately followed with some snide remarks and personal attacks. And every post you yours since has been nothing more than personal attacks and insults towards me.

With my luck, I'd replace the straps with a chain, first hill the mower goes up, the chain slackens or slips off hook, gets caught in PTO, and blows up the rear end of the tractor...."Ahhh crap! That didn't work!"
All the ones I have seen use bolts at the ends, not hooks for that very reason.

And some run the center section of the chain through a hose to make it harder to snag the driveline.

I really like the floating linkage that is used on my Woods unit. It accomplishes the same thing as a chain top link, but I don't have to go through the hassle of taking off my hydraulic top link. The nice thing about having both floating linkage and a hydraulic top link is that you can raise the mower way up in the air to easily remove wire you might run over or to work on the blades. If I didn't have the Woods, I would be using a chain though. Any floating unit is better than a fixed unit.
