You grease the threads once in a while , Better then getting hit with a pipe in the face or launching the pipe in the air when it slips out of your hand , Been hauling flatbed trailers and equipment for over 30 years.....

I'm with you. I have both and I hate the lever type.

If I was towing and tying down things multiple times a day, I might think different, but I doubt it.

I have Dixie brand lever binders. The have a way of locking them once they are closed. I don't know if Dixie is a part of CM or if CM bought them out but they make them now. Not cheap now but if you are going to use the lever style the extra safety is worth it to me. I think they are called Dixi-Loc or something like that.

I bought my first set of lever binders a good while back. Non-locking type. After getting my knuckles slapped the second time, I decided that ratchet binders were for me.

As for chain binding quality, I sure couldn't say. But I will say I won't be buying any lever binders, locking type or no. Fortunately I don't have a need for either style on a daily basis. I'll leave the expert opinions to those that work with them day in and day out.
