I have a L3010 with backhoe. The backhoe has a chain (much like a motorcycle chain) which is part of the mechanism which allows the boom to swing from right to left. Should this chain be greased occasionally? Nowhere in the manual does it say anything about this.

Grease won't do much good - it doesn't get down to the pins where the wear occurs. I use PJ1 from the local motorcycle dealer. It's good for many other things too - door hinges, control cables - It flows into tight spots like oil does, but stays put better.

I am an avid bicycle racer and I have a suggestion. I use a product called white lightning. It gets applied to a CLEAN chain. then when it dries, it doesn't attract dirt and grip. Excellent lubrication and preservation properties. After all, nobody is more critical to friction than the guy bushing the big ring on a long pull from the peloton.
