I want to add chain grab hooks to the top of my bucket. I don't have a welder. Are the bolt on hooks OK or should I have a welder install the hooks?

You should make sure the area the hooks are attached to is strong enough or you'll end up bending it. Many buckets require reinforcement. Getting a used stick welder and learning to use it doesn't have to be particularly expensive, FWIW.

Welding increases options.

Neither do I, but a neighbor did. Cost lots less.
