Cell phone plan options?

/ Cell phone plan options? #31
If I may, I'd like to ask if anyone has experience with a US 'based' person needing cell in Canada. My daughter is going to start at Mt. Allison in New Brunswick in January. Don't know how often she'll call new friends she makes there versus calling home to Vermont. Our TracFones do not work in Canada.

Thanks

We have 4 lines through T-Mobile for $129 per month. I love their customer service, but theirs cell service stinks outside of towns in most places I've visited in the U.S.

They suck here. They work good in Springfield (nearest big city)

It amazes me how good their customer service is, yet how poor their cell signal is outside of any urban area I've ever been too. It's almost comical in that when we leave town and see a cornfield, we know we'll be losing their signal, and, again, when we approach a town and the fields turn from corn to houses, our phones all start dinging away with all the new messages alerts.

Corn is T-Mobile's kryptonite!

I have an old good working Alltel flip phone [ Samsung Hue ], now owned by Verizon. I pay $100 a year for prepaid minutes/keep my cell active, and never use many of them. Been doing this for years. Have probably $400 worth of minutes in my bank, most of which I will never use. Phone works great up here in the boonies in Michigan, lots of coverage and clear two way talking. If I do have any problems with a call on my cell or landline, it is usually from the folks downstate and their ' great ' cell plans/towers ' down there ...

When ever we have visitors to the house, and they pull out their cells, and start looking for a signal, I always know they have T mobile. I can go down to my basement and have good service underground with my Verizon phones, while guests are running around to windows on the first floor or walking outside trying desperately to get a "bar"

Just the opposite for us. I had Verizon for 2 years, fought with them over a booster, had it...it never worked well. Dropped them, went to Tmobile and no issues.

My highest mortgage payment was $256 a month and that was at 12.5% interest!

I think I mentioned we were down your way back at the end of September. Great service in Branson. And I was surprised that we had service in every little town between there and Bentonville, AR. etc.... but just a mile or two outside of every little town we'd lose service again until the next burg. Also, minimal service in many of the little river towns along the Mississippi and Ohio rivers.

I've looked at pricing, and I'd like to switch to Verizon, but it would cost me another $100 per month/$1200 per year. I haven't had $1200 worth of aggravation yet, so I'm sticking with T-Mobile for now.

You're T-Mobile cell signal experience is an exception. ;)
