Is there an easy way to clean a ceiling fan without dropping all the dust and whatever all over everything underneath? Yes this is embarassing to ask, and no, my place is not filthy, but when someone has just washed the sheets and bed spread...well someone is going to catch more than the dust and clean the fan blades. Guess who is on the wrong end of the fan?

Vacuum sucking while dusting.or wet cleaning rag w/small trash can below as you wipe.

I use a damp cloth and wipe the blades with it. If I'm careful it will all stay on the cloth. You could hold some newspaper or cardboard underneath if you are afraid some will drop. Using a wood stove nearby seems to coat our fan with dust  so the blades get cleaned several times a year.

they have an attachment that fits on the end of the vaccum hose

you could remove each of the 3 screws holding on the 5 blades then take them outside hose-um-off:D although you did mention " easy way" so I'd go for the shopvac and the fan cleaner attachment,
