you know the type you drive over that are just a bunch of pipes.
Will a dog cross one?

I want to keep my dogs in without having to get out and open a gate all the time

I have seen plenty of dogs cross them. You will need something else to keep dogs in.

Suggestions? maybe rest a pipe or four rubber and hook up a elec fence charger. Ha ha this chould help with other unwanted vistors...

I would put a gate but I know the first time my wife had to get out in the rain she would never close it again

Dogs learn real quick not to cross a line if you work with them on it. My brother trains them and he'll get them to stay on the front yard lawn, or stop at the curb. I've seen retrievers that just live to play fetch stop at the edge of the lawn and let the ball keep going.

Good luck,
Eddie

From the little experience I have seen of them the dogs will go right through. However, a dog can be trained pretty easy and you can train them to stay on your property. A temporary invisible fence will keep them away also. Once they learn that area is bad then you can take the fence down. Our neighbors had a invisible fence all the way around their property and their 3 dogs learned the boundaries. About a year later the fence quit working but the 3 dogs still stay away even after the collar was taken off.

invisible fence has no affect on other peoples dogs that will not keep them up

I have a lab and a golden and they will not go out of the yard...but just like a kid who knows what they will do without someone home if they see a cat

OK had an idea.

between the pipes in the gap for lack of a better term run and elec fence wire.
This could be fun to watch when the door to door sales type people come around too
