I have a small apple orchard and I was thinking about getting a Category 1A applicator license so I can get some of the 'better' chemicals. As I read the study material I am starting to think it is not worth it. Do you any of you have experience with it?

Thanks,

Jeff

I got my pesticide license when Ohio first started requiring them. Yes, the study material and test is not easy, but most of it is what one uses to measure and spray chemicals properly. I know a couple orchard guys, and some of the fungicides and stuff they use are pretty nasty. Kevlar type suits and full face breathing masks. If you are planning to become a commercial grower and not go organic, it may be worth some study time and get your license. Good luck whether you decide to get your license or stick with your current setup.

What I found interesting was the mixing and loading pad. At my little peace of heaven I don't have room for one. I have been to a few orchards in KY but I don't recall ever seeing one.
