Cataract Surgery

I know what you mean about full cost. It's not cheap even with the surgery. Thanks for the update. I figure that at my age I need to get the best possible solution that will give me the best quality of life for the next 40 years or more hopefully. The doctor called on Friday and I've decided to go ahead with the surgery and have the crystalens installed. I go in on the 31st of January to have all the measurements done then I'm scheduled for Feb. 12th for the first eye and March 3rd for the second.

I did not say I was getting cataract surgery from an optometrist. (They are not licensed to perfrom surgery.) Nor did I say an optometrist was doing the diagnosis. Optometrists are trained to notice cataracts and then, when necessary, refer you to an ophthalmologist for follow up.

MikePA - My mistake, I was only going off your prior comment about an annual exam with the optometrist. Great that you're dealing with an experienced surgeon for this. Good luck with the surgery, my new lense inplant made a big difference in my vision and clarity, and went without any problems at all. I'm sure yours will be fine as well. Champy
