Case Ih C50 shifting problem

Some times when shifting from forward to reverse it does not want to go. When it wont go I can shift it from high to low a few times and it goes. Other times it shifts like it should. Is there a way to fix this. The tractor only has 715 hrs. Should I post this in the Case IH section?

Well there is a cable that goes to the clutch pedal that I adjusted a little when I replace the tractor step it was attached too and now the tractor will start with the transmission range lever in gear but only the range lever not the speed lever. What have I done??? Be for it would not start unless both levers where in neutral.Now it will start with the range lever in gear. What needs to be done to fix this. This makes me worry that something might be wrong.I cant remember it both levers needed to be in neutral or just the one
