I have a 1736 with a cab and it has the 12 gear shuttle shift. Just recently i noticed that when i shift from forward to reverse (yes, i am moving slow), i get a hard jerk. It happens both ways - going into forward and reverse. I have no issues manually clutching and moving the shuttle shifter, this only happens when i dont engage the clutch. Note that i dont use this method a lot, rather sometimes when i am moving stuff with the FEL at slow speeds. I am looking through the repair manual and see a few solenoids there, but wondering what is the best way to go about troubleshooting the problem. My best guess is it feels like the shuttle shift is not properly engaging the clutch before shifting.

My MF operators manual says to stop before moving the shuttle shift lever. This lever moves a sliding gear to change directions.

Interesting as mine says to just do it at slow speeds, not high speeds. I wonder if there are differences in models/years. I tend to use the clutch anyway 99% of the time as i am used to it, but clearly something is different.
