case 1490 pto problem

guys, have a problem with a 1983 Case 1490. When the PTO is under heavy load, its disengages. can anyone suggest a reason or fix? Hay season is coming up and it won,t run a round baler to a good pressure to keep bales uniform. Help please, Gary

Hi i have international 706 we just replaced the clutch pack in the pto on ares because it was sliping. I would see if yours has clutches they might be worn out and need to be replaced. Hope i could help out.

No clutch packs on the 1490 !! As it uses a clutch assy on the flywheel

Do you need a service manual, clutch and pto assy is covered in the Case IH 1490/1494/1594/1690 & 1694 service manual, which i sell as a PDF download.
