Kubota B3030
Is anybody running a TM series Caroni flail on a Kubota B3030? I just finished cutting both sides of my 2500' common driveway and a 1/2 acre frontage lot with a "borrowed", used 5' rotary cutter. It seems to shake a lot, there is definitely vibration that shakes the tractor some, didnt seem to cut that great and every time a car went by all I could think of was hitting a rock in the 2' high grass and killing somebody.
So I read the threads on Caroni flails and I am thinking about buying one with the adjustable hydraulics, I just dont know which to buy a TL1500FSC or a TM1600FSC? will the B3030 handle a TM?

I'm not sure but I thought only the TM1900 had the hydraulic shift feature. I have a TM1900 and I'd keep it if I switched to a B3030.

IT. The shift kit will fit the TL and TM series. The Caroni site has a file that shows the amount of shift for all mowers. That is what I thought I remembered but I just checked it.

Thanks for the correction.

IslandTractor, what is the PTO HP of your tractor?

32hp at PTO. But that is considerably more than needed to run the TM1900 except in heavy brush. I usually don`t mow at rated PTO speed and have no trouble with the engine turning about 1800rpm or so. If I was using the flail more like a finish mower than a bush hog I would not hesitate to get the 1900 if I had a 30hp tractor like the B3030. If my main intent was to bush hog then I might go smaller or would just know that I would need to mow more slowly. The size and weight of the flail would not be an issue for the B3030.

Bummer, my Big Bad B3030 is only 23 gross HP at the PTO!!!!!!!!!!, how dare they call it a B3030, talk about misleading, I guess im stuck with the smaller flail. 8-(

I run the TM1900B behind my L3130HST with no problems and our delivered PTO hp are not much different. I say go for the TM1900.

In the BIG Flail Mower thread it is the general consensus that you need about 4hp per ft of mower. 6 ft would then= 24 hp (pto) and you have almost that. It would be fine on stuff that is mowed regularly, and rough, long stuff you would just have to go a tad slower.

I think you'd be fine.
