My first mac was a IIcx - 60 meg hard drive - smoking!!!

Worked for a major broadcasting company. We daisy chained to the printer - more than 6' and had problems. Support company spent days trying to figure out why it would crash... ended up telling us it was an "environment problem" meaning something wrong with the building... I was new to computers but not that stupid. I said ya right . And we have a million dollar+ recording studio on the roof that works just fine thank you.

In the end a 3' or less cable could only be used...

My main computer is one I built myself, so that tells you it can't be a Mac, although I have 2 - 23" Mac monitors.

My laptop is a MacBook Pro. The neat thing is that I can dual boot with it (Mac OS and Windows Vista). Generally I use the Mac OS, but Mac software is very limited, so I use Vista in those cases.

I'd be interested to know for what tasks you lack software on your Mac side of your dual boot?

Just to name a few.. I am a tax professional and my preferred tax software is TaxAct. It only runs on Windows. I am a scuba diver and my dive computer uses SmartTRACK software which is only ported for Windows. I like to watch sports on the Internet, but they are only watchable using Internet Explorer. There are a number of games that I like to play - not ported for Mac OS. I am a Certified Financial Planner who uses special purpose financial planning software - not ported for Mac OS.

Should I continue?

I suppose I could try to figure a workaround, but my time is valuable.

If you get tired of rebooting just to bring Windows up, try Parallels. I use it and it works great for running Windows apps on OSX. It can even import the full Windows image from wherever it's running to create the virtual machine.
