Can someone interpret this for me?

I know this is a dumb question. I have serviced my own tractors for many years, but this is the first 4wd I've ever owned and my first time to change the oil in the mfwd axle. The directions seem straightforward enough, but I don't understand some of the terminology in the specifications listed here. It says the mfwd differential housing capacity is 1.19 gallons. Then it says the wheel hub DANA capacity is .21 gallons each. Then it says the mfwd assembly axle oil - DANA is 1.58 gallons. Is that last number supposed to be a total of the first 2, or is this something different? I think it is supposed to be a total, but it doesn't add up. 1.19 + .42 does not equal 1.58. I put oil into fill location A and both hubs and it did hold about 1.6 gallons, but if these are 3 different capacities that are supposed to add together, then I am missing something.

I've got a problem with a hyd remote, but I'm gonna start a different thread on it. I thought I'd ask about this while I'm posting. Thanks for any help.

Just fill it till the oil level is at the fill hole (B). Per instructions, fill the wheel hubs first till oil runs out of the drain hole then put the plug back in. Then start pouring oil into the axle housing till it runs out port B. Let it set for a long period (oil runs slowly thru tight spots like bearings) then top up again to make sure all the air is out and the oil level is right.

Thanks for the quick replies. I thought that the 3rd number was supposed to be a total of the first 2, but it made me wonder since they didn't add up. If I had been the technical writer, I would have made them add up.

So would I, make them add up. Third capacity was not really needed.

That's why it says "approximate." I filled mine a couple days ago by the listed volumes, then had to suck a quart out. To much over dip stick mark.

Just fill it and drive around your driveway 5 to 10 minutes, check it, and top it off until it shows full.

Did My X-758 last week you need 3 Gal and a Quart . Drain every thing front and back first .
Put all drain plugs in and fill the back first Than the front . Keep the Quart for after you drive it to top off . This is for the X-758 I do not know what you have .

In your next post you say you have a 5075 E

Just do it as Gary Fowler indicated(post #3). Some times there is a lot to be desired in the owners manual instructions/descriptions. Its good that you asked for clarification.
