Well against better judgement I bought the tractor for $6500. It is an F395 with the 4TN84 Yanmar 39HP 1.9l 4 cyl motor and runs great. I have already run into an issue though. I heard a slight noise when in 4WD so I decided to pull the front axle and found that a few teeth of the front ring gear are gone. The motor is shared with the JD 1070 so I looked through their online parts and besides the way the front axle attaches to the chassis the inside of the axle looks identical. So I am keeping my fingers crossed that the parts are interchangable.

I do have the whole parts came with the tractor but it is all in Korean with discriptions in english but I think the part numbes are worthless, unless someone on here might know of someone that can do something with them.

I wanted to thank everyone for the help and information. I think I made a very informed decision and after repairing this diff I will know whether it was a good investment or not. :confused2:

Jeff,
Congratz on your purchase, and welcome to Tractor Bynet !

For 6500 you got a smokin deal.

Could you post a few more pictures of your new machine for us ?

Like the panel behind your legs that turn on the 4wd , diff lock, ect...
and maybe the dash board?

I have an Fx335 here, but I have never seen a 395 up close.

Even with the diff issue, you got a real deal. Worst case scenario is that you have to have a new gear made ($$ Ouch ?). I have never had it done but there are several companies online that offer the service.

Any Gear Made Quickly Inexpensively & Perfectly Al Meekins Gears

Rush Gears inc. -- gears delrin gears plastic gears bevel gears spiral gears worm worm gears spur gears helical gears phenolic gears stainless steel gears cast iron gears steel gears miter gears metric gears hardened gears heat treat reverse engineer

You may get lucky and find the JD and Kukje parts interchange. I will bet there is a grey market dealer out there that has crossed this bridge and can tell you exactly what your answer is. I'll bet that the "common gear problem" (paraphrasing) that were mentioned in one of the links/threads I had posted earlier is the same issue you have. Since Handlers Equipment is obviously "refurbishing" and selling some of these tractors, and Stan's Tracors is selling them in the U.S., give one of them a call and see what they can tell you.

Darryl,

Thanks for the info and I agree that it was still a good deal. I have confirmed that at least the engine and the axles on the JD were made by Yanmar. I have located a JD 1070 gear set in TX and am in the process of exchanging details to see if they might be the same. I also found out that the JD dealer in Woodland CA changed out a gear set in Feb and they are checking to see if they might still have the old gear set for comparison. I have also already contacted Handlers in BC to see if they can do anything with the Korean part numbers. So I am chasing several leads.

Ernie,

I will post pics soon.

That 'Stan's Tractor's' page may be years out of date.

It is. We bought that website 5-6 years ago from a company going out of the business and have not fixed all of the listings for him yet. Sort of one of those projects that we lost interest in... :)

So good news, I can get the parts through Handlers and it appears that they are about half the price of the JD parts that I still think would work, but for $600 I will go with the parts I know will work!

BTW, here is the pic of the damaged ring gear.

Also the gear ratio for the Yanmar is 37/7 = 5.29:1 ratio and the gear set for the JD 1070 is a 36/8 = 4.50:1 which makes sense since the F395 came with 8-18 front tires and the JD came with 8-16 front tires.

I think it may be the same or a similar model. Mine was originally red but was repainted by Handlers in BC when they went through it. I have had mine for a little over a year now and it has been a great tractor!

Can parts be found for these tractors? The reason I ask is I can get a super deal on it, the engine has possibly a blown head gasket and/or a few cracked pistons everything else is in good shape.
