3-Point Hitch Can not get 3 point hitch to work

Just bought a ts254c tractor and can not get the hitch to come up and go down. does it have to have weight on it for it to come down.

It will have a valve to control the drop speed, make sure that's unscrewed a bit. Note that on many tractors that valve will be under the seat.
The 3-point cylinder is typically single-acting, so a little weight on the arms will help. Also, the draft lever should be put in the "Deep" or "Down" position, so as not to limit the amount of drop.

yes it does have a value under the seat. I have screwed it all the way and all the way out, is it surposed to come all the way out in your hand. How do I start to adjust this valve, all the way in or out. I did put the arm in the down position.

Somewhere between 1/2 and 1 turn out from fully closed should be all it needs. I think you will have a big mess if you remove it.

With an implement attached (like a box blade etc.) raise the hitch and close the valve...lower the 3ph lever then open the valve to the point that the implement drops at a desired rate...may take a few times to get it right.

And it shouldn't screw out to the point of falling out. Some brands only turn 3-4 turns.

mine does come all the way out, because it has a rubber ring around the end. do I need a new one or what. I thought something would come out if it came out.

I'm confused, does it go up but not down or neither?

I assume you checked hydraulic fluid level? Are other hydraulics working?

Have you tried the jimma or Chinese sections of forum?

Last n ight when i cranked the tractor and pull the lever to lift the 3pto it came up fine. But then i could not get it to go down. i screwed the value all the way in and then turned it about 2 turns still will not go up or down. I have a two stage clutch, do you have to let out on clutch to make it move. the front loader works fine.

If it goes up it should go down under its own weight. Can you stand on it and make it go down?. It just may be stiff.

Also as you just bought the tractor have you changed the hydraulic fluid? Might be a place to start.

My rockshaft has a drop rate lever as well as the on/off valve. The lever moves fore and aft and is rather small. If that lever is closed the 3 point will lift, but not fall. If that lever is full open it will lift at same rate, yet fall quite quickly. My rate of fall lever is just left of center under the seat.
