Can I retrofit 540/540E on a 5520 JD?

The other post regading a creeper gear on a 5025 series has me wondering if I could install a 540/540e on my 5520. I now have 540 only.
It sure would be nice for mowing and some other chores. Any idea on this?

Problem or Situation:

Some customers/dealers may order a tractor and decide that they want 540 Economy PTO or the tractor is ordered with the incorrect option code.



Solution:

540 Economy PTO cannot be field installed in a transmission. The only solution to this problem is to order/find another tractor with the appropriate options.

Thanks for that information. I couldn't find anything but it looks like you found some way to access JD for questons?

For those that don't know, 540/540e, in which the higher horsepower tractors have a "gear" that allows 540 rpm at a much lower engine speed' seems to be the way to go. I'll bet it's commonplace in a few years. Saves fuel and wear and tear.

For me, it means 1700 RPM vs. 2400 RPM...
