Can I just pour cement in ballast box and add water.

those little tractors, I'd just find a couple suitcase weights and forget the box. save the box for tools and such. I use an old walk behind fork lift weight to keep my back end planted. So heavy I need to lift the front to get the 3 point to lift it higher.

I would rather have a pile of gravel or sand than a block of concrete to move or try to get back into the box next time.

I know you're thinking concrete but an alternate material would give the option for fine tuning and/or easy removal. I've used rocks, iron and even auto wheel weights before. Just an FYI.

A saw a post years ago where a guy did that but he put sections of pvc pipe in the box first standing on end so he could tote around rakes, spades, etc stored handle first in the tubes. I guess he'd have to mix that first and shovel it in.

Yep...been a few guys who did that...
Using sand, you can do the same thing, or even just shove the tool in to the sand...but still have to option of removing the ballast (sand) if desired.
Although not recently, I've used my empty ballast box as a carryall, then shoveled the sand back in to the box.

I filled my ballast box with concrete back in 1999, it's now on tractor #2, I've never wished for my ballast box to have anything in it but concrete. Maybe a few times I wish I had put the PVC pipes in it for a shovel or rake. But that would decrease the amount of concrete in the box, and I was going for max weight inside my box back then.

All done! 8-50# bags of pea stone. used the drive over bracket from my mower deck after I installed the lock n’go to hang some suitcase weights if ever needed(I doubt it). 2-2” PVC tool holders

Ready for action!

I’ve always fluid filled all 4 of my tires with water & 25% Antifreeze for extra weight.
No weight box to hook / unhook.
