I think a standard edge has holes 12" on center. Also, instead of skid shoes, I sandwiched a piece of rubber between the plow and the cutting edge, so it hangs down a few inches. As soon as you drive forward, that flap will fold down and prevent the plow from digging into gravel or grass. It works excellent, although not as well on pavement as a normal edge. It is a nice option, as I have terrible luck using skid shoes. I have also heard of people slicing PVC pipe and sliding that over the edge, which should do the same thing.

I tried that with my back blade last year... Pipe lasted about 5-10 minutes. I'm planning on starting with just the skid shoes & going from there depending on how well it works.

Why not do both, the rubber flap "and' the shoes.

I got the skid shoes late in the season, so need to see how they work. My biggest problem is the 6-7' light duty truck plow I just picked up. Almost finished designing the SSQA frame for it. It needs shoes as well. Depending on how well it works, the back blade might be getting sold as I already have a box blade as well.
