Kubota L3400HSD
Hope this question is not overly stupid but here goes. I have a Kubota L3400HST with the 463 loader and am wondering about converting it to Quick-Attach. Is this possible or does it require a different bucket or is there a conversion/adapter to use my existing bucket. Is this something I should have thought of when buying the loader?

You should just be able to get the quick attach plate to go on the loader arms and then you can get some brackets that you weld on to the exisiting bucket or anything else that you put on the loader.

The brackets are normally quite cheap and are not hard to weld on or have the dealer weld them on for you.

This is quite a good conceptual picture

Hope that answers your question

Grrrr, thanks. Where do you find these and is one design better than another? Approximate cost?

It is hard for me to say becasue I am in the UK and things are very different over here.

Typing in quick attach loader or something like that in to Google will give you some reading.

Hopefully someone else will chime in.

I checked out getting a Bobcat type of quick attach for my JD 2010 and a loader bucket with the adapter added the cost would have been approximately $1500 for a medium duty bucket with adapter welded on and the quick attachment.

If you get a quick attach for the FEL, get a universal skid steer quick attach. There are several companies that make an adapter version to fit on your loader. Kasco, ATI and Bradco are a few. I use to have a Kasco adapter for my Kubota 3710 and another adapter for the bucket. Mine cost about $900 but that was 7 years ago. I could then use my bobcat skid steer pallet forks, phd etc on the front. If you want, you could also cut off the brackets on your bucket and weld on a skid steer attachment plate to the bucket. This will save a little weight.
I would urge everyone who get a CUT to get the universal skid steer attachment when you buy the tractor because it is much cheaper to get it then rather than later.

Quite a few year ago I added a heavy duty ATI Quick-Tach to my Ford 2120 and had the ears welded on my bucket. I think it cost me $1700 installed. It has worked great. I like the ATI better than the New Holland on my TN.

The photo inserted above is available from Westendorf (taken from our web site www.loaders.com). To answer some of the questions - Is one better than the other? Here are a few things to consider...
1) Number of trips off the tractor (automatic lock on or off)
2) Ease of alignment
3) Long term wear (flat face vs. V-shaped)
4) Cost of adapter sets to convert bucket/attachments
5) Is it a new design that may be obsolete in a year or two or has it been used for several years with reliable supply of parts for future attachments.

The Snap-Attach system shown in the in the above thread is universal to most loader brands, cylinders need to be on the top of the loader arm and arm ends need to be 4" wide or smaller. Set of loader couplers run approximately $650 (set of two) and the adapters for attachments and the bucket are roughly $150 (set of 2). Available in weld-on or bolt-on configurations. Most local Westendorf dealers will have these parts in stock.

Kubota now offers a skid style quick attach as an option on the LA463 loader. You can purchase one which will attach to your loader arms (Kubota cost around $400). You would then have to remove the mounting brackets on your bucket and have a quick attach plated welded in it's place. I think the plates are around $120. Search this website and you will find other 3400 owners who have this setup... pictures included.

I'm in a similar situation as the OP. When I bought mine, the QA was either not available for the LA463 or my dealer did not know about it.

For $400 the QA bracket might be worth considering. Where can I get a QA plate for the bucket? Is this sold by Kubota also?

Definatly use the universal skid steere attatchments. My dealer threw them in on the deal, I have no idea the cost. I had to put them on, it was not that hard to due. Cut off the exsisting bracket plates on the bucket and grind them smooth, place the plate on the bucket and weld in on. The part that goes on the FEL is also easy, mounts on to the exsisting pins.

I think these two items are sold in a lot of places even on ebay! There are so many skid steere attatchments that can be used on the front of the FEL you will not regret using them!

For example just check out

Out-Front Hay Accumulator

On ebay you can search for the ebay store named ATVxpress
