@ArlyA It seems that fighting the snow is a real challenge. Is this something you enjoy? Or is it a real PITA?
We are skiers and moved to the UP so as to do it consistently. With the right tools, its really fun. Snow plowing AND skiing. 😆

Thanks.

How long does it take you guys to switch over from tires to tracks? I have tracks for my Kubota 1140 RTV and it take an hour to a hour and a half. There are brackets that have to be removed/installed every time which slows things down.

That road might be interesting in the spring.

It was about an hour on the Ranger and that is one reason I got rid of them. If you need to use a SXS in the winter where you get a lot of snow, they are great. But I did not need the use of a SxS during the winter.

Arly has some challenges with that 1 mile drive to his camp so I see the need. I would use a cheap used sled instead of an ATV as it is a lot less money, but he has the pods so it makes sense for him.

Is there much difference in aggravation between installing pods on the Can Am vs the Yamaha?
It does takes some time, and those anti-rotation brackets do take snaggeling to get them clamps on. The 6x6 rear pods do not have anti-rotation brackets but have other challenges to work with. Either take me more than 2 hours to do.

I think when you get a tractor you’d be ahead to get a couple of loads of oversized gravel and fill in those wet spots.

His issue is not wet areas. Almost impossible to get a SxS stuck in the mud spots Arly has shown, and if you do, the winch gets you out.

The problem is snow
deep snow. I got my Ranger stuck in 14” of snow using chains and had to get pulled out.

2" lug longer tracked snowmobile will get you and your gear where it needs to go. Even if your pulling a simple cheap smaller jet sled with or without a rope or tow bar. I haul wood up the hill to my cabin from my barn in the up. It works great and if I'm really tired I can detach the jet sled and drag it in my cabin thru the front door to my wood rack 😂 inside.
