Congrats, Arly! If I didn't have to negotiate with my wife, I have a small place in the Black Hills, or, failing that, the UP of Wisconsin. I don't think I could handle MI. Love the thread.

I saw the previous owner was 8-9 hours away. How far is it for you?

Ultimately, you may want a summer tractor with no cab and a smaller footprint to go along with the bigger cabbed one. Easy for me to spend your money. 😀

Can your ATVs help move snow?
Its an hour south of us and at a higher elevation, so the weather is a bit different. At this point, we are leaving the 6x6 here with its blade so as to do snow removal and groom the trails we care for here.. With the property, we gained another atv which will be left there, but has no blade but will ferry us in and roll those trails.

Arly,
Are you going to put trackers on the larger equipment or is there lockable storage?

Since this is a remote cabin and not a primary residence, there is no need to be there when it's snowing really bad. Clearing the road of snow can happen when the weather gets better. I'm sure a cab would be nice for this, but if it's too cold, too miserable, why even go to the cabin?
hahaha - it may be a "camp" cabin, but surely you've seen they're avid cross-country skiers?
If I had a cabin like that (at least, after it's set up for it), I'd probably be there more in the winter than in the summer....

Indeed, we'll be going in the same we are now, via atv. Obviously with pods in the winter. We will be looking for someone to plow the parking lot for us this winter. We are sitting at a campfire there now.

No interest in a belly mower, will use a three point one. Looking for 2000lb loader lift capacity or more.
Does that Deere 4066 you were looking at have that much loader capacity?

Here are photos taken over the weekend of the insides of the sheds. We got more road clearing done and wet spots drained on it.

Nice starter supply of firewood. Looks like more tools and things you can use than rubbish in the outbuildings. Is that a second (Arctic Cat) ATV?

That is a dated AC atv which he wants to take home. Glad to see it go 👏. Some junk in the outbuildings that we'll go through and trash or keep. The firewood supply will need to be increased before much snow lands.

With that much land there has got to be some standing dead timber you could utilize for this years burning.

Lots, but the more important 1st job to do, is to clear the road in.

Dearest is working a short day, so this afternoon we will be heading up there to clear the road in some and drop a tank of propane off there because the previous onwer is coming back this weekend with other fellows to do one last hooray, then load some items (Junk to us) to take home. We want to make sure there had enough propane for there last camp there. We'll also be there on Saturday to ask him a 1000 questions. Tomorrow am I'll run out to get that used abi trailer.
