Covington is an hour drive away. Not sure how long it takes us on the 6x6 drive in, but can't be very long. Its a rustic mile in.

An hour is a good distance for a getaway. Close enough where you can go and work for a few hours and not feel like you wasted a lot of time.

When my folks lived in Sioux Falls, they had a lake cabin 3 hours north. It was an ordeal to make the trip for a weekend. Literally 25% of the time was driving.

I know a bunch of the lake properties along the border lakes between MN and SD are owned by people in the TC. 4 hours each way. Fine if you are retired or have flexible work.

Really happy y'all found a place.

My uncles house was a little over 4 hours, yes that was a chore driving and we always tried to stay for at least a week.

We will be head back there on Saturday and Sunday to meet with the previous onwer. We are allowing him as much free time as he likes so on Saturday, we'll be there to ask the many questions we have. Then on Sunday as the leave, we'll grab the Kodiak atv and go back in and grab things that need to go to the recycling pile.. Here is the trailer we picked up yesterday. I got nothing done to it and it still sits on the trailer this am. 😳 It is rated at 1800lbs, has torsion bar suspension plus power dump.

Oh that little trailer looks sweet, exactly what you need!!! It will do a good job with the clean out effort, but will also have tons of uses around the place for years to come. Fill that baby up with firewood and dump it right in front of the woodshed, perfect!!!

I'll need to check it out better in time, but at this point, I will switch the 1,7/8 ball to a mini pintle hitch this fall, which is the same as our grooming implements use.

Packing to head down to Covington Camp now and its near freezing there now. The previous owner wants to head south earlier than he had previously stated, but that's OK with us. Will try to haul new cargo trailer and 6x6 down at the same time. Will bring lots of construction garbage bags with us.

At least you Don't have to worry about winterizing water or waste systems at camp Covington.

We just got home and hauled a bunch of junk out and back to town for disposal. May have put 300lbs of steel in the recycling bin. Helped the previous owner move things out to his truck. Was a good day.:giggle: Did get a few pics but it will take me some time to go through them.

There was a scrap yard in ishpeming or Naguanee I think, I hauled a tandem trailer and dumper doo load there, they paid me for scrap steel and aluminium I hauled in. Half seriously thought I was dropping off my one ton dump truck for scrap also 😂 😂

We'll head back today to get more junk out. Here are photos of us heading out with the 6x6 and trailer in one load. 4" to spare! Then some junk out. Was a long but productive day. Learned much about camp care. The new to us Kodiak can be seen in the bottom photo. The 5ft long wood rectangular things are skis he mad for his trailer.

Just got home after day at camp. Moved and cleaned up much. They had 4 grilling systems out there. Fire was burning extra plywood and lumber. LuLu was tired by that time. 🤣

Where do these pipe go.
Showed how to clean chimney and how often.
How to fill the water system. Filter it etc, etc (not potable)
How to light gas lights.

This is all I can recall right now.

My solution to the no spill cans is to buy a big funnel, unscrew the no spill cap, and dump the fuel into the funnel.
The Honda generator caps on the 2000 models anyway take fuel rather slowly. I'd say it a poor design but the spouts on no-spill cans kinda lessons the grief.

I like the metal, spark free metal 5 gal cans, with have the sealing lid, and the attached funnel.
