Cabela's and TYM Tractors

/ Cabela's and TYM Tractors #101
So they called me back. They don't have any left in stock in either of the TX stores, but are going to look for another one to bring in from out of state.

So is the Woods quick hitch worth double the price of the Harbor Freight one? Looking at the pix of each & they look identical. From the downloaded woods catalog on PDF and the HF page.

Anyway, I think I will be going for it.

From Eric The Oracle:

Consider the SpeeCo version from somebody like Brian's Fleet. Should be less money.

Sources for a 3 pt. quick hitch are many . . . And it also matters if you desire a cat. 1 or a cat. 2 etc..

As Eric mentioned . . Speeco makes a cat.1. And a cat. 2 quick hitch forb3 pt. Needs and we have them available at Fleet Farm stores and Farm and Fleet stores and Theisens and otjers. And I assume Tractor supply sells either their own brand or a Speeco version. Landpride sells a nice looking one. And of course Harbor Freight has one. All of theses listed above are a single piece rigid item and some of them like the LandPride, allow you to reach back from your seat to operate.

I've never seen a Pat's unit in person and I've also seen at least 1 or 2 more similar items made by other vendors as well as wood's.

It seems strange that the smaller separate units like Pat's are priced the same essentially as the Speeco or LandPride units . . As there seems quite a difference in weigjt amd rigid metal design.

In fact I was particularly interested in the LandPride offering if I were considering one . . . until I spotted a small but important detail. My scut . . Massey GC1715 is capable of 1194 pounds of 3pt lift by Massey spec and possibly a bit more by real life lift. But the LandPride unit designed for subcompacts is limited to 700 lbs.. Now maybe LandPride offers another version in Cat 1 with a higher limit but if so that's at a different price point than the one I had seen.

Now discovering that means . . . is there a similar weight limit on the Speeco and HarborFreight units or not?

I have forks that can be used on my fel or moved to the 3 pt.. and I surely would not want to reduce my usabke limits by 500 pounds before even attaching my forks (or trailer mover or ????).

I'd suggest on any of these quick hitches for 3 pt. use . . . that you inquire not only about price and fit and advantages of the rigid vs. Pat's/Wood's type choices . . but also if they have weight restrictions.

LandPride is a sharp company . . why would anyone make a cat. 1 hitch that considerably reduced scut ability ?????

Do you have a link to that as land pride shows 1 cat 1 hitch. Found it! That one was for subcuts to 28 hp.

I bought the quick hitch as it was already on the machine with the box blade...price was just a tad more than Northern Tools.

Murph, landpride has a cat 1 qh05 quick hitch (weighs 37 lbs) It and another qh cat 1 qh15 (weighs 70 lbs) and qh cat 2 qh25 ( weighs 120 lbs) show in the past and newest landpride full catalog (page 81 printed 12-1-14). Weight and dimensions shown but no usability parameters and limits shown.

But in the special separate landpride bx tractor performance matched implements catalog (printed 4-1-15 psge 2 it shows the weight restriction of a 700 pound capacity.

This is unfortunate as the landpride qh05 was competitively priced and had some decent features to it. The regular qh15 is priced much differently and speeco is much cheaper and then often on sale too.

Just got these two catalogs a week ago from a landpride rep. Last year at thus time the qh05 was listed in their regular catalog already but I hadn't seen the bx implements catalig then . . . Only a poster of the items.

You would think landpride's main catalog would list any weight limits of each of their products . . . especially hitches.

TYM now lists on their website a HST transmission on the 45 hp tractor. Amazing how long this has taken since you could get it in only 50 now 55 hp and Cabela's was selling the 45 with HST. More options.

Got the HF QH at the ABQ store today.
Turns out it is rated for 45 HP tractors and 2000lbs. FYI for anyone as it does not say on HF's website for specs.

Never can tell, cabelas may have spec.'d this and either had an agreement with tym not to offer, or tym just didn't think it would sell.... Btw, was up at the Rogers AR store the other day and several tractors that weren't on display are now out from, did not look closely but 36 and maybe another 25 are there..... Still showing up.

I don't usually jump in to respond to specific posts, particularly when they come from a dealer that Cabela's competes with in a local market, but this one contained some things that are important to address. Recall that I am an advisor to Cabela's tractor business; it has been my job to help Cabela's build a strong tractor and implement sales and service capability.

Hopefully, tb8100 and the TBN forum community will read what follows and better understand that Cabela's DOES service tractors, DOES stock parts and IS committed for the long haul. Let's agree to compete by focusing on why Cabela's or your dealership will serve the customer well, not by speculating about what the other can and cannot do, or whether they will be in business in five years.

"Guarantee You Cabela's Isn't Stocking Parts": Cabela's has 65 store locations in North America (12 more announced, about 12 per year of growth planned), plus three, one million sq/ft. distribution centers. At any given time, there is literally hundreds of millions of dollars in inventory. They carry this inventory so customers can purchase what they need, when they need it. Adding sufficient quantities of tractor parts to the mix so Cabela's service technicians and customers have ready access to parts is not a problem, and that investment has been made. All Cabela's by Woods parts are stocked at the stores (fast moving) or Cabela's orders directly from Woods, as do all Woods dealers.

Cabela's Getting Out of the Tractor Business in the Next Couple of Years: Cabela's is committed to the tractor business, just as it has been committed to their boat business for nearly 15 years. Cabela's is the largest Ranger boat dealer in the world, and it got there by providing great service after the sale. Fixing 300HP outboard motors and servicing all of the complex systems of today's boats requires a shop and infrastructure, along with a strong team of experienced techs. Cabela's is not "out of their league," when it comes to servicing what they sell, and they didn't get to where they are by selling boats at the lowest price. They got there through their service capability. Cabela's service shops all have overhead cranes, forklifts, special tools, service managers, parts managers, admins, and most importantly, they have hired experienced tractor techs to work alongside their boat techs.

Loader Lift Capacity: All Cabela's loaders are made by Woods Equipment, right here in the USA. I think it is fair to say that for people that know Woods, they know they build things to last. All of these loaders (now up to the LD126 on Cabela's new LM75 tractor) can do the job required for the tractor HP range that they are used on, meaning, they are perfectly matched. Published lift capacity beyond what is typically required of the tractor HP range is perhaps an interesting selling tool, but there many other important consderations. I have actually been to the factory on Korea where the TYM loaders are made. For a range of reasons, I felt that the quality and durability, as well as cycle times, product support, and, having Woods as a partner, are all great reasons to proudly have the Woods name next to the Cabela's name. Speaking of lift capacity, the LD84 loader that goes on the new Cabela's LM25 sub-compact tractor has 50% more lift capacity than that of the BX. More lift height too. But again, specs are interesting and often very important when matching equipment with a customer. Impressing them with specs that they may have no use for does not necessariliy serve them well.

Again, I jumped in to set the record straight, not to debate of offend anyone.

Hahaha, Yeah right they are committed to taking your money and running off! I have yet to see or remember seeing a certified tractor tech in any Cabelas near here! The one in Garner NC was a hydraulic line specialists. Hahah

Has anyone put wheel weights on a LM 55H by Cabela's?

I am interested in trying to get something like that done.
