cab for BX2200

Miki:

I had posted same some time ago with little result. I have a BX22 and am looking for one of the canvas or vinyl ones, primarily as protection during snowblowing. I found one at a company called Perry. I emailed them about details but never got an answer.

I hope someone out there has some good names for manufacturers. I've seen them a number of times on tractors, but now I need to try to find one.

If you want a nice hard shell type there are a few brands out there, but they are quite pricey and somewhat of a job to install/remove.

I just had a look at the Curtis Cab web page (www.curtiscab.com) and they don't show a cab for a BX2200 or BX22 as yet. My guess is that it won't be long before they do. They list both soft sided and hard sided cabs. There are many other manufacturers of cabs as well. I suggest you talk to your dealer or search the web for cab suppliers and see what you can find.

I had a soft sided cab on my previous tractor but have a hard sided cab on my current tractor. There is no comparison - hard sided wins by a mile. Be sure to get a good heater - it is worth it. As for taking the cab on and off, I don't find it that big a deal - four bolts and two hoses and one electrical connection. It takes me perhaps an hour going either direction. I have a pulley suspended from a tree branch and use the winch on my ATV to lift the cab on or off. See attached.

Byrd Tractor has one at their dealership in Manassas, VA all set up on a BX2200... it's a really nice cab, I was impressed! This is not an off/on install however. Once you put it on, it pretty much stays on. Made by Curtis. Call Byrd..maybe they can send you a digital photo? Tel 703-361-2135. Ask for Jeremy.

I am not sure what everyone else thinks but that picture of the Cab on the BX2200, I don't know, hate to say it but, "I think it looks stupid"

I guess I'll just stick to wearing my "Carhart Artic" clothes in the winter time......

Kind of looks like a vehicle from the old Pink Panther movies especially with the light on top...... Tom

Howard,

I like that cab on your F2400. Do you also have a heater in it?
I have not yet bought my BX2200 and I am still exploring all my options. I will primarily be using it for mowing and withthe snowblower in winter. We get lots of snow up here in Canada and I really wanted a cab. How is that F2400 working out with the snow. I am now debating between the BX2200 and an F series tractor. Comments?

This looks like it could be a good deal for the occasional snow protection.

The F2400 is great. However, I only need it for two purposes - mowing grass and blowing snow, although I do do a bit a grading with the dozer blade from time to time. I have an ATV that I use for yard work. I bought the unit used - it had belonged to the town of Clifford, Ontario, northwest of Guelph. It came with the mower deck, snowblower, dozer blade and cab. The hour meter was broken at 4400+ hours so who knows how many hours are on it. I needed some TLC, but not much else other than an alternator. It has a 60" Kubota side-discharge mower deck. The 52" snowblower is two-stage, made by Van Eyl in Clifford, Ontario. It will blow dry snow about 100 feet at 2000 rpm. It also handles wet snow quite well, which we get a lot of in Niagara. The cab was made by Jodale-Perry in Winkler, Manitoba. The heater works well enough that I can be in shirtsleeves, even on the coldest days. I put an in-line fuel pump in the supply heater hose to aid the circulation to the top of the cab where the heater core is located and it works well - also saves having to bleed the air out of the heater hoses when I put the cab back on for the winter. I put air-hose disconnects on the heater hoses which makes it easy to connect and disconnect them. I find that I do not need tire chains, 4wd is enough, but my driveway is fairly level so I don't have grades to climb although there are times after a heavy snowfall that I use 4wd. The front mount mower makes for a very agile machine. If you don't need an FEL or 3pt hitch, front mounts are great machines. I am just annoyed that it took me so long to figure that out. The municipalities and golf courses use them extensively around here so there are usually some good deals on used machines, which for my money is the only way to go. BTW, if you browse through the signatures thread you will find a picture of my machine in winter dress, complete with salt spreader.

Does any one think that the direction of air flow on the bx could be a problem with a cab for comfort and cooling of the engine. My dealer awhile back had a bx2200 set up with a Curtis cab, nice set up,but to much money for me at the time.
I have the front snowblower for my bx2200 so I think that the curtis cab would be a real nice feature for staying dry.

Howard,

I have found an F3060 year 2000 with 1000 hours. There is a Laurin ROPS cab (heated, wiper, lights, etc). It comes with front mower, snowblower, blade, turf and ag tires with each their own set of rims. There is also the balance of the factory waranty. The dealer is asking for $20 000 CND. What are your thoughts. This is more than I wanted to pay. Do you think this is a good deal?

thanks for your help.

I have the Curtis Cab on my BX2200. It not only keeps snow off of you but it also keeps you dry in the rain. I feel that it is very well constructed and worth while. I see that the price has gone up since I bought mine though. It is a permanent mount, not something that you can put on and take off all the time. The doors and windows are removable for cooler use in the summer. The roof and windshield stay on all the time. I mounted a set of lights on the roof for night time loader use as the regular headlights don't do much with the loader on.

Two things I want to ask.......

With a cab, what about air to the radiator...... It sucks air from the area of your legs and feet.....

What kind of lights did you install and where did you get the power? I will need lights this winter on the ROPS if I use the FEL for snow moving........

In answering your two questions, First question regarding air to the radiator--- the screen around the radiator/ battery area has a cover that you get with the cab. It is held on with velcro for the winter, in the warmer weather you just pull it off. I've had no problems with over heating. Second question--- I bought my lights from a company called Harbor Freight (it is a mail order company, they have a web site also-www.harborfreight.com) I believe that they were around $12.00 to $15.00 They were listed as fog/driving lights. As for power, I ran the wiring down the same wire loom that was used for the windshield wiper power and tapped in to the fuse panel. It works great and looks good also. The thing to remember though is that unless you have replaced your alternator with the heavy duty model you may run your battery down. I haven't replaced mine but have not had any problems as of yet.

At the Emoire Farm Days in 2001, I found a cab made by Larin, a Canadian company. It was pricy (about $2900), but was the nicest I have seen. The cab was sturdy enough to replace the ROPS, and was compatible with the loader. It weighed around 400lbs., so it would stay on the tractor

I live in Canada and have seen many Laurin cabs on different tractors though not on the BX2200. The cabs made by this company are real strong and most commercial tractors owned by the city I live in all have Laurin cabs. They are quite pricy. I am trying to find out if they have a website. If I find one I will post it.
