Price Check BX25 pricing in MA?

Hi all...

First time potential purchase of a tractor. I've done a fair bit of research here over the past month or so and think I've settled on a BX25 for a 80% MMM, 20% FEL and BH usage scenario. 3 properties: 2a, .5a and 1a with all the related maintenance, no real woods but plenty of wooded areas, choke cherry, poison ivy, pond edge, rock migration, etc.

My question is what's a good price for a new bx25 in MA? I'm hearing $16,900 from a dealer with an additional ~$1900 for the MMM. I'll add a thumb (bro-tek I think) and a chipper (not sure yet) in the not too distant future. (or now if I can get a better package price) I think this is about ~1-2k high based on my readings here.

If you're near the NH border you might try a NH dealer to save that MA 5% tax but you might have to pick up the tractor yourself as some of them will charge the MA tax if they deliver in MA. I would only do this if they were close as I want to maintain a good relationship for service down the road.
Your pricing seems a little high to me. Call around for some more quotes.

Thanks... we considered this, but we're a bit too far and I'd like to purchase and service from the same dealer. I think that works out better in the long run. (MA almost voted down the state tax... would have been nice)

Ma may have come close to voting down the state tax, in reality, if they did, your property tax would have more than doubled, So where would you really be saving? I shopped all the MA dealers and many in surrounding states also.. I ended up buying from a dealer 400 miles away. OF course my tractor is much bigger than what you are looking at. Just where in MAss are you?

Ahh, a first time potential buyer - OK, gottit.

If I was buying something that I absolutely could NOT service myself, co-location of sales and service might be an issue.
I don't think it is worth anything to me to have dealer with a super dooper service bay.
If it breaks in a short amount of time I can probably take the broken part off quicker than I can get a service response and swap it myself.
If I can't break it in 3 months I probably can't break it, at least that has been my track record.
If I can break it I get the opportunity to learn how not to, also how to replace it.

If it REALLY mattered to me I would probably pick Chappell in Milford, just across the line.
They've run down to Mass to collect and deliver my snow blower (for no charge) due to a warranty failure.

The common pricing I got for the MMM was around $1,550 in April of this year. This is Texas and Louisiana - 4 quotes.
Not sure on the BX 25 base pricing though. Dont forget to price in the 3pt hitch that is now an option on the new model.

Agreed on the prop tax. I voted against the repeal for this reason.

I live towards Cape Cod, south of Boston. There are a couple of dealers within ~30mi of me. Close enough that I'd prefer to do service there.

Well... it's done. New bx25 arrives on friday! Ended up with deal I'm happy with, added a 60"MMM and bagger. Decided to go with a dealer closer to me as the savings of a couple hundred $ became less important.

This is great community for tractor info... helped a lot.
