Grading BX24 Box blade

Anyone have any suggestions/experience with a box blade for the BX24? I am thinking of getting me one for my lane/landscaping chores. Do they handle a reasonably sized one okay?

So far, I am pleased with my machine. The BH/loader and mower are all first rate items that I have got a lot of use out of. About 200 hours since getting it early last summer.

I have a 4' Box Blade and love it. I only have 3 scarifiers and wish I had more...I've seen 4' boxes with 4 and 5 scarifiers before.

I don't think I could run larger than 4' wide given my turf tires and dry (and sometimes wet) clay soil conditions. I simply run out of traction. 4' seems to be wide enough since it covers the track width of the tractor itself.

In my experience, I think you'd have a tough time with a 5 footer unless you run Ag tires and don't plan on moving too fast. BLADE, sure. But not Box Blade since it it supposed to dig into the ground and carry a bunch of earth with you.

But the brain-trust has a whole myriad of setups and opinions, so if I'm off on that assessment, I'm sure someone will speak up.

I agree with Keith.
I have a 4' woods box blade (it is sized for the scut and labeled as estate series) I have r-4 tires and can fill the 4' box enough to spin all 4 wheels. It takes a lot to stop it, but it can be done. I would not go any bigger than 4'.

I run a 4 Ft. Landpride behind my bx23. Works great, and it will stop the tractor with a full load of wet clay. You definitely do not want anything larger for your bx24.

4 foot was what I was thinking. Thanks. About what amount should I expect to pay? I haven't even started shopping yet, and want t avoid sticker shock!

I think I paid just over $300, but mine isn't exactly a name brand. It's just a big chunk of metal I drag through the dirt once in a while. I'm sure there are nicer ones out there for under $400. I'd have a tough time paying more than that. Unless it could hose itself off...that'd be worth a few bucks.

I paid $550 for my Woods GBC48 from the same dealer I bought my BX. The salesman started at $600 and came down to $550 in a flash when I blinked.

Woods costs more than some, but solidly built and well matched to the BX.

I have a 4' King Kutter version that cost me about $400 (ish) from Tractor Supply. I have been happy with it so far and I have pushed it pretty hard.
