Is there really a "quiet" tractor anymore? Unaware.

Actually, it is tolerable, but I do wear ear protection, seriously. Didn't mean to leave the impression it is THAT much more noisy than others, if at all. It just is what it is.

Purafit 3300 earplugs-

lime colored worth every penny
box of 200 pairs-uncorded; under 40 dollars
large ear canal size yes they roll up tight
and will fit with no discomfort and give a
33 decibel plus reduction without fail.

gemplers or lab safety supply-my favorite

Uh oh. Now I'm worried....it's a noisy bugger. :(

I'm going to dealer tomorrow/tues to have a little test run, so I guess I'll see just how loud they are.

Can't be worse than my 4800 under hard acceleration with the windows down...

all you need is a small salamander to warm it up and it will just purr rather than bang as everything will be warmed up- and or plugging in the coolant heater for 20-30 minutes before you use it the year round- case in point is my firewood processor- thirty minutes before it gets cranked it heats the hydraulic oil and engine and it barely coughs from a poor hernia examination and it is ready to run for hours I use it for the trucks too.

I have owned a number of zero turn and riding mowers. Was keeping approx five acres of "lawn under irrigation" for several years. Bought a 2660 this year and all I can say is that I am getting the best cut I have had on the yard. Period. And I am doing it in about 2/3 the time. Yes, there is a whine and the motor turns fast. I used to feel pretty beat up after my mowing. The Kubota is much less fatiguing and more efficient than anything I have used to date. Told my wife that this is the best hundred bucks a month I have ever spent. Hope that helps some. My dealer told me that the warranty is two years full coverage and four years motor and trans.

RIO! Hate it and almost forgot about that safety feature on all lawn lowers including the JDx series till it was mentioned above. Had an x485 (predecessor to the x720) You can't mow in reverse with RIO unless you override the safety interlock, or jumper it. SCUTS don't have that feature and thank goodness! Just something else to keep in mind deciding between the JDx and the BX.

As far as the cut between the two, I really can't say one was better than the other and both give a high quality cut, but I never cut grass more than about 6 inches.

Something to think about: I inquired with dealer about a price for swapping turfs for Carlisle "HDAP" tires (similar to tires on X748).

Much to my surprise, he said it would only cost a total of $80 to swap all 4 tires. However, he thought the 2 play rating on them might be too light duty for this tractor.

I wonder if anyone on TBN has ever mounted this type of tire on a BX?

Do you cut your lawn, I mean like your front lawn (not like a field or rough lawn) with it?

Concerned it will be too heavy and rip-up pretty lawn areas.

It won't hurt even the nicest of grass...Get turf tires though.

It'll leave some tracks in the grass...No harm though. Mix up your cutting path.

The BX is a seerious grass cutter, and does a very nice job.

Carlisle makes hdap in 4 ply. All Trails.

The question is do they have your size? That ought to be simple to find out.

We have a B2620 (turf tires)with the 54" MMM and cut about 7 acres. The cut is better than our JD L120. The only marks we've left have been from forgetting the tractor is in 4WD. The Power steering makes lawn mowing enjoyable. As for noise an iPod goes a long way.

I doubt the 2-ply HDAP tires would be an issue, especially if your not using a loader - fronts might be a little weak in that case. Never read about any JDx owners having issues with their HDAP tires. I don't think Carlisle offers the All Trails in the size used for the BX2360. Here's a link

Carlisle Tire & Wheel Company

Edit: Just looked at the link above and the HDAP 18x8.5x10's are 4 ply, so they would be fine for loader work if you ended up getting one for the BX.
