From day one, I always thought my diff lock was not engaging. When an implement dealer I bought my BH6000 from (also a Kubota dealer) took my unit to install the subframe, I had him check it out as a Kuboita warranty issue. He said they found a broken pin. Sure enugh, I went to the section of ditch that I moe where I always thought it was failing and it worked. However, a short while later, I was back on the paved part of my pad and I heard a rather loud
"crack" emerge from beneath the tractor. Looking down, I was sure that both wheels were struggling on the cement. I heard another "crack" shortly thereafter and now, when I return to that same portion of the ditch, the diff lock seems to be not working, again. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif
Anyone ave any problems with pins breaking in the diff lock linkage? I am not at home now, but will be in a few days.

Thanks all.

To be honest with you I have had my BX2200 since Oct 2002, have used it extensively doing landscaping, moving snow etc. and have used the dif. lock only once. If I need extra traction I put her in 4 wheel drive and this has worked well for me.

Well I’m sorry this keeps happing to your machine but I’m afraid you just omitted to your own mistake. You should never engage your diff lock on cement or any hard surface. Remember when you engaged your diff lock you now turned your rear axle into a straight axle. The inner wheel will turn much slower then your outer wheel. In loose dirt this really isn’t much of a problem since the dirt will give. If you did the same thing on your grass the inner wheel will tear the heck out of your lawn. Now the problem is when you engage it on cement there is no give for the tire. Well something has to end up giving and it’s not the cement.

Sorry for the delay. I've been away. To respond, I never did engage it on the pad. Its a 100' drive from the section of ditch where I had tested the diff lock to see it was working and had long since released the differential engagment foot control. I had even backed up and turned around by the garage. It was after that, that I heard the crack. That's what struck as extremely odd. I have heard of the lock staying engaged but changing directions will assure it is disengaged. Even then, it was along time after that and the machine "seemed" to exhibite no signs of being still engaged. tomorrow, I am going to pick up my skid plate from the post office and will get a good look at the linkage when I am installing it. Hopefully, it is just a pin broken, again.
