Have 107 hrs. in six months blowing snow. Leaking fuel tank, dealer fixed. Loose hose clamp from rad to block caused loss of antifreeze fluid, dealer fixed. Glow plug failure, along with excessiver black smoke, and leaking rear auger seal on blower unit, dealer to fix. It seems like a lot of incidents but other wise great unit.Would like to here from other heavy users, on reliablity.
Dealer service is only fair.

Jeez I am about to buy one of these. I keep hearing how reliable the 3 cylinder Kubota's are. Would it be fair to say you are neutral in recommending a BX?

I have almost 50 hours on mine, in just about 3 months. During this time, I have really put mine through the paces, including mowing 4' thick brush, plowing snow, pulling 300 yards of fenceposts out of the ground, tilling 2 acres of hard packed clay, pulling trailers, moved TONS of dirt and stone, etc etc, etc. So far,not a single problem except for a sticking HST pedal which the dealer is going to fix for me at the 50 hour mark. Maybe you got an earlier serial number, or perhaps your dealer didn't give her a good look over to begin with. From my experience on this board listening to other BX owners, your problems are unusual to say the least. The only one i've heard about is the fuel tank leak which happened with earlier serial numbers, and the sticking HST pedal, which is also limited to certain serial numbers. (BTW, all the guys here got kudos from my dealer, as i heard about the SB here BEFORE he heard about it from Kubota!!!!) /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

Charliebrn,
Just curious how you pulled the fence posts out of the ground. I have a similar chore ahead of me and would like to use the same postholes for a new fence. Thanks.

It's an easy task to do. I wrapped a 25' log chain around the bucket, leaving one end down about 4'. I make a couple wraps with it at the base of the pole (studded T-posts) and hook it back to the chain. A quick yank with the FEL and it slides out real nice! The only thing to be careful with is to make sure that the chain is centered, otherwise you'll be going for a ride that you WON'T enjoy! /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

Same principal with 4x4's. but you may have to notch the wood so the chain has something to grab hold of. I did 200' inside of an hour by myself (and my cute little BX, of course!) /w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif.

You assume right. I must be unlucky, but on the other hand most respondents do not have many hours on their units, especially in hard service.

Sounds like my S10 /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

At 122 hours. Outside of the known design issues, which Kubota redesigned and fixed: leaking tank and sticking HST, no problems myself. IMHO, I ain't complaining about them. Knew the risk of a new design; first model year. I accepted that there would be some issues arising, but for myself, I have been impressed how it's turned out. Yup, it's been back to dealer a couple of times, but it has also surpassed my initial expectations in what I have accomplished.

I have had my BX2200 for a little over two months now. Have about 40 hours on it. I am not easy on it either. It is an amazing machine. I am surprised that I have not flipped it, or last week buried it in the hole I made getting a stump out. So far the only problem is I have a fuel leak (this has all the SB's done) in the tank on the left side. Appears to be that they did not spot this before getting out of the factory as it has tool markings to indicate it was done when it was put together. Kudos to my dealer as a new tank is on order and he will immediately replace mine when it gets in.
