Hi,

I'll keep this simple. I need to go synth because I store in an unheated shed, and I had alot of trouble starting when REALLLY cold.

I'd like to go with a WIX filter and synthetic oil. I cannot find the right WIX # for the BX2200. And I need a reccomendation for a good brand and type of synthetic oil for the BX2200.

Thanks for the help. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Redline, Amsoil, Mobil 1, Shell.

For filters, go to Hastings Filters and get a filter number. Then visit any favorite filter manufacturer for their equivalent part.

From another post in the Kubota forum.... your wix number is 51064. I use Rottella Synthetic from "AndyM'" & "gsxr1100" favorite store.... these two fellows reccommend Walmart ..... $12.88 per gallon

I would only ask what are you looking for in a synthetic oil? Anything from a group 3 to a 5 can be classified as a synthetic. Are you looking for the least expensive or the ”top of the shelf” oil. Do you want an oil that protects longer, better oxidation protection, higher Phosphorous, Zinc, TBN etc. They range from $12.88 (as Junkman posted) to about $20 for the good stuff. I personally would spend the extra $8.00 for the better oil but that is me.

Basically it comes down to are you looking for a good basestock or additive package.

To close,I recommend Wal-Mart and Rotella as much as I recommend an American car/truck. I linked my "Joy sig" to the walmart.

I know pour point is important; however, I would not base an oil 100% just for that. Plus using a synthetic does not mean it will help.

example, Walmart dino (supertech I think) oil can go down to -35 F. I would look at a blend since that might be cheaper if the properties of the oil are not important except for pour point.

Lastly, a pour point does not mean the pump will pump the oil either.

I have been using Mobil 1 5w40 (Truck and Suv) in my BX 23.

You can get it at SHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!

Walmart

But it's about the same price at some auto parts stores.

The Rotella product would be a little less cash and would be fine.

The Amsoil, redline, Royal purple etc. Will probably be a little better than M 1, But how often do you service?

Brian --Mobil 1?? Say it is not soo. ZDDP is pooooooooor.

Since 5w-40 is not on the list (below): Looks ok since it has Moly in it and a good TBN. Again ZDDP protection is not really that good, to me. With these #'s Motorcraft 15W-40 is better. I do not know what you are paying for the M5w-40, but if over 8 - $10 for 1-gallon, it is too much.

I change it out every 6 months. I don't mind spending $8 extra since the BX only takes about a gallon anyway. Is there a spec for deisel specific that I need to look for? I saw alot of brands thrown out there, do they only make the one, or do I also have to question viscosity? /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

I thought we were suppose to change it out every 50 hours? If you don't get 50 hrs, then you change it every 6 months? bw

Kubota oil passes API Service CH-4, CG-4, CF-4, CF, CE, CD, CC/SL, SJ so anything that is "in line" with that is fine.

Any Redline or Amsoil diesel oils are fine for Kubota or any diesel.

   / BX2200 going synthetic QUESTION #15
I would use Baldwin over Hastings but that is me. Baldwin makes Amsoil SDF filters.

I change mine every year no matter hours. Used Amsoil 15w-40 since 96 with zero problems. I will be testing my BX22 oil in the spring and will post yet another oil analysis. Which I expect nothing short of a great report.

I would say 50 hours or 6-months for the cheap dino oils... /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

your local wal-mart will NEVER carry an Amsoil or Redline product. Their clientele will never buy it since it is not on "roll back" or the price is way too high.

   / BX2200 going synthetic QUESTION #17
So, where do you buy Amsoil and Redline products?

Most garages and speed shops in my area have them. It is very common around here.

   / BX2200 going synthetic QUESTION #19
Moon, I just go to their website and order. They then send it through a dealer. Mine comes out of Columbus, Oh. I use the 10-40w and their oil filter in my Deere.

Thanks for the replies guys!
I've looked for Amsoil but I don't shop garages or speed shops. I like the idea of ordering it online since I'm not that close to any speed shop.

Thanks,
