( You should be seeing 12 VDC (I assume that the solenoid is active in the run position, not sure about the timer (?) mentioned in the manual). )

Yes, the solonoid is powered when running. When the power is cut a spring moves a plunger and cuts off the fuel. Unfortunately, I misread the manual which covers both the BX1800 and the BX2200 and thought that there was a timer relay AND a stop solonoid on the tractor. Actually, the timer relay is only used on the BX1800 not on the BX2200. Sorry for the confusion! /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

( I don"t have a manual, so this is an educated guess, but the solenoid shuts off the fuel on shut down, so it must be powered to allow fuel flow to the pump during start/run operation.)

The stop solonoid is mounted directly on the injector assembly according to the book and it shuts down the fuel there, not at the pump.

I have been following this post and want to thank you, Bob, for posting some valuable information here re: the fuel solenoid.
As a former electro/mechanical troubleshooter, the location/activation state/function/voltage are critical in diagnosing and resolving problems such as these.
Great job on the info!

Thanks! I've been watching and hoping for an update on the problem. Maybe no news is good news? /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Hello again - time to post an update. Ended up that I had to be out of town this week so got the dealer to pick it up. Should hear back today on the final bill. Dealer thought it was the solenoid too - says it's not unusual and is a weak point on the BX electrical system.

Thanks to all for your help - I would have had a go at this myself but for the trip (and the rain that keeps the grass growing). It will be a good test of the BX when I finally cut it! The front lawn looks more like a prairie than a lawn.

Ah well, it's still cheaper and more fun using the tractor than paying for someone to do it even when I do screw up occasionally.

It's already back - I have a great local dealership. They turned it around in 2 days and back ready for the weekend mowing chores. Thanks again for all the help.
