BX22 FWD

I have a new BX22 (5 hours) and it is quite difficult to get it out of four wheel drive. Did others experience this now or when their tractor was new?

Mine is the same way. Try to rock the tractor forward and reverse just a little with foot pedal as you disengage the front wheels this should make it much easier. there should be nothing wrong with your tractor as most 4wd trucks are the same way, hard to disengage the 4wd at a stand still. see page 25 of your owners manual. it states "to avoid damage to the transmission,when front wheel drive lever is not smoothly shifted, slightly step forward or rearward on speed control pedal."

I saw that in the manual & that's how I get it out of FWD, but it just seems to take a lot of pressure.

Mine does the same thing as well. If I hit the pedal a touch, it comes right out every time. I even find it will do this on the speed selection (fast/slow) as well; have to tap the pedal there too, especially if it's on an incline.

You probably know this, but just in case, make sure you don't use 4WD in situations where you are getting good traction (like on pavement, etc.). If the tires can't "slip" a little, it is possible to load up the front gear box, which might be causing your trouble. It could also damage the gears. If you do happen to do this, just move the tractor to someplace where the tires can "slip" some, then try it again. My BX2200 is often difficult to get in and out of 4WD (more out than in). I usually let it roll some (in neutral), then try again. That usually does it.
