Just a further note: A lead-acid battery in a good state of charge should register 12.6v without the alternator charging it.

Neither will cause a no crank situation.

Actually it IS possible for the fuel cutoff solenoid to disable cranking on some tractors like my BX2200, for example. The starter solenoid circuit is completed on the BX2200 through the Start coil of the fuel cut off solenoid. If that coil fails in the state where the winding wire opens, then the tractor will not crank.Obviously, if the fuel solenoid is unplugged at its electrical connector, the starter will also not crank.

Not sure about the OP's BX1860 though...
