Oh, I know that, my dealer has hit me up several times to sell my, OK, my wife's BX2200, I got the same amount out of my 2003 L5030 HSTC as I paid for it used the previous eighteen months and put 700 additional hours on it.

Well, on our two Kubota's sold over the last 5 years, one was two years old and this one is three and a half years old and the grand total "loss" on both machines combined would barely cover the cost on a small tractor for a week's rent. I'd say that's pretty darn good. There aren't many things in life you can say that.

What's next is a trip to a "nearby" dealer as his website shows a machine I'd want to take a look at. I'm thinking Monday we'll go for a drive. Nearby up here means 70+ miles. Life in the country. Shrug.

Interesting thread, from start to finish. We've still got the L3400, but might be looking for something else in a few years. We keep two horses, which means running a PHD from time to time, mowing pastures, etc. It pulls a two bottom plow for vegetable gardens, and a double disc to prep seed beds and the gardens for planting. Moves the occasional round bale, though we prefer small square bales.

Once we retire, and hypothetically get out of the horse game, maybe I'm dreaming on that... I can see a smaller machine. Probably a BX25, always wanted a hoe.

We talked the other day about a cabbed tractor for moving snow when it's miserable out. I spent a couple hours in freezing drizzle plowing some neighbours out a week or so ago. They needed the job done, they're good friends, and I wasn't going to leave them shoveling to get in their drive at midnight. Would have been a lot more pleasant job in a heated cab with a radio, though.

Like BP says, our needs evolve as we go along.

:thumbsup: :thumbsup: :thumbsup: The "God Thing", which I totally understand, can continue on. This B7100 4wd HST with 1100 hours and a near new mmm can be yours for a shocking price/trade. I had a renter sell/trade it to me because he was moving and hadn't moved it in 2 or 3 years and I have no use for it but at the price I couldn't pass on it. Ponder if you could have a spot for it for an incredible price. I know you need to make a trip to Casey/Pulaski County in the near future.
A well maintained tractor will/can bring back most of it's purchase price and in enough time it can some times even bring a profit. It's just like, well, almost just like trading/buying cars and trucks.
